Dear Readers: I am stepping away from “The Exorcist” today, and featuring something more literary. Today’s piece has a title that is based on the popular Dan Brown novel (whose new tome was surpassed in sales by Sarah Palin yet to be published work). It will highlight the differences between the LOCAL media (ANGELS) and the NATIONAL media (DEMONS).
I also wanted to highlight the following San Diego events:
ECO-TYRANNY PROTEST TEA PARTY
NOTE: THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL SURPRISE GUEST INTRODUCTION!!!!!!!
Date: Sat. Oct. 17th
Time: 10:00 am -11:30 am
Location: Half a block N. of the Star of India; N. Harbor Dr.; San Diego
MESSAGE: Citizens should bring signage related to flowing water, cap & trade and all-things opposing eco-tyranny ! So-Cal TRC, LLC will provide updated fliers on related legislation and action plans.
SAN DIEGO DOCUMENTARY PREMIER: “NOT EVIL JUST WRONG”
Date: Sun. Oct. 18th (Tickets are $5 at the door)
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Veterans Museum and Memorial Center; Balboa Park; 2115 Park Boulevard; San Diego, Ca 92101
This event is the World Premier of “Not Evil Just Wrong.” Not Evil Just Wrong, is a documentary that details the “hysteria” of global warming and claims that the rush to judgment causes more harm than good for the poor. Not Evil Just Wrong focuses on environmental scares, like the ban of DDT pesticides, as examples of the consequences brought about by extreme environmental ideology. The film will “do for Al Gore what Fahrenheit 9/11 did for George W. Bush.” (For more information on the movie, click HERE or read our San Diego compatriot’s report on “Inconvenient Questions”.)

MEDIA ANGELS
An effort to protest major media for their anti-tea-party bias has been launched as “Operation Can You Hear Us Now.”; it is reported that a group will be holding a rally related to this operation on Oct. 17th.
I would like to state for the record that our local group, the Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition, LLC is NOT affiliated with this group and IS NOT it involved with this media protest. SoCal-TRC, LLC has always found the local media personnel to be professional and fair in their coverage of our Tax Revolt events.
I have several examples of how well we have been treated by the local reporters, all of whom have been cordial and professional. They accurately conveyed information on the event (though we can quibble about the attendance count). A good example of such professionalism is found in my post on our April 11th Spanish Landing event — and this IS our local CBS affiliate. KUSI has always sent a reporter, and has detailed our events since the first ones in February.
I have had the pleasure of being interviewed personally by two outstanding journalists – Perette Godwin of our FOX affiliate and Joe Little of our ABC affiliate. While I didn’t talk to the NBC reporter, our group’s CEO Sarah Bond was interviewed by one of the NBC staff during a protest in front of our Senator’s offices. None of these peoples merely asked “softball” questions, either. They did what solid journalists do everywhere — focus on WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY AND HOW!
The San Diego Union Tribune has never been a favorite among San Diego’s conservatives. However, to be fair to the newspaper (full disclosure — I am a daughter of two newspaper reporters), it is only their use of the national entities (yes, I AM talking New York Times and AP) that is problematic. The LOCAL COVERAGE is usually quite “fair and balanced”, which is why I ask my beloved husband to maintain the Thursday – Sunday subscription we have.
Two examples from SDUT stand out: Keith Darce tracked me down prior to the coverage of the Aug. 14th protest, and allowed me to clarify that any racist drivel against Obama found at that events WAS NOT FROM OUR GROUP (there had been several examples of staging just prior to this event, in an attempt to smear the Tea Party Movement). He also insured he had the most accurate history of the Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition origin and events possible. Chris Reed is on the front lines of fighting Eco-Tyranny, and his reporting assists our cause tremendously. His report, Here’s where the lead scientist on California air board study justifying costly new diesel rules got his degree, is ESSENTIAL READING!

MEDIA DEMONS
I think there must be something in the air or water that permeates the brains of reporters once they get into the “national” market, which makes them elitists who know better than we average Americans….. about everything. Upon arrival to New York or Washington DC, they deem what information the average American is entitled to get, and which would distract from the politically correct (and usually misleading or blatantly untrue) message they wish to present. Personally, I would far rather sit down with any of our exceptional San Diego journalists than the likes of Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson, or David Brooks — despite the lesser audience and supposedly lesser prestige.
Furthermore, it is as if they took this command (a quote from the movie version of Dan Brown’s Novel) to heart, as though it were given by President Obama:
Stories highlighting the continued failure of our national media are legion, and I can’t detail all of them here. I will merely say, using my passion for science as the basis for this example, that below is a graphic illustration of the old media’s relationship to the new one.
Premier pundit Camille Paglia wrote the following today, during her robust discussion of reader’s letters to her (I do admire a journalist so willing to politely address these kinds of challenges).
The mainstream media’s failure to honestly cover last month’s mass demonstration in Washington, D.C. was a disgrace. The focus on anti-Obama placards (which were no worse than the rabid anti-LBJ, anti-Reagan or anti-Bush placards of leftist protests), combined with the grotesque attempt to equate criticism of Obama with racism, simply illustrated why the old guard TV networks and major urban daily newspapers are slowly dying. Only a simpleton would believe what they say.
A good and very recent example of this continual “failure to report” comes from Bizzyblog: NYT Blog Says PWC Study Is ‘Industry Report,’ While It Omits Dem Pedigree of Economist Disputing It (Update: Plus a $2K Kerry for Prez Donor). NBC Host Chris Mathews musing about the killing of Rush Limbaugh was a journalistic disgrace. Jammiewearingfool mocks the old media presumption of “Global Warming”, one of many based on the current and severe cold snap were are experiencing throughout the country. The W.C. Varones blogspot has a great piece on the Obama Administration whine-fest, because Fox News is not playing by their Chicago-based playbook. One of our partner blogs, Circulation Down, keels track of the legacy media’s decline — with much glee, I must add.
(MUT Note: Two of my favorite radio pundits, Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh, have had recent stuggles with the internet entity, Wikipedia. Blatantly false statements are placed in their alleged “biographies”, which are then utilized by the unthinking media demons to smear these men unfairly. It has gotten to the point Limbaugh must pursue legal action; further details are here. I have often used Wikipedia to underscore a historical point I make; however, until this matter is resolved in Levin’s and Limbaugh’s favor by entry “locks” or more supervision for conservative biographies, I am boycotting Wikipedia. NOTE — I was one of the initial contributors for the “MUTNODJMET” entry.)

I will end this post with another quote from the movie, which I direct to all national-level journalists everywhere:
Open the doors, and tell the world the truth.

UPDATE: Apparently, the unfair media treatment of Rush Limbaugh resulted in the loss of his chance to live his dream of owning a NFL Team. I say that Rush fans who go to NFL games should give the games the “Tea Party” treatment — signs and t-shirts in favor of Rush, capitalism, and free speech AND against the elite media demons and mouthy NFL types.
