Dear Readers: Working up a post for College Insurrection, I came across this tragedy — College Murder-Suicide With ‘Bow and Arrow’ Occurs in Front of Students
A man killed a woman near a community college in Casper, Wyoming, before killing a male teacher and himself in front of a class full of students, according to police.
The ABC news affiliate in Casper reports that police say the attack at Casper College occurred while class was in session.
“What we can find is that the individual that committed the violent acts was not a student at the college, but that there was a known relationship between [the victims],” said Casper Police Chief Chris Walsh at a press conference on Friday afternoon.
The Police Chief later clarified that all three had known each other. Police say the killer was not a current student at Casper College. Walsh could not confirm that the suspect was a former student, either. Walsh added that there were no records that could have tipped off authorities to any kind of threat. Walsh said no firearms were used during the homicides, and rather said that “edged weapons” were involved.
However, multiple students told K2 News that some kind of a bow-and-arrow weapon was used. Walsh later emphasized that following the attacks no suspects were at large and there (are) no threats of random violence.”
Capitalist hero and good friend, Captain Capitalism states the obvious most eloquently, as it pertains to the campus gun control policies:
Of course what could the possible consequences be?
Oh, that’s right, being in one of the few places that bans guns in town and then having some raging lunatic come in with an “edged weapon,” who goes on a killing spree, and being able to do nothing about it.
But hey, at least you academians did the politically correct and liberal thing and banned guns. And that’s worth the lives of a couple people at least!
PROGRAMMING NOTE: CAPTAIN CAPITALISM AARON CLAREY WILL BE ON CANTO TALK THIS WEDNESDAY, DEC. 5TH, TO DISCUSS HIS BOOK, “WORTHLESS”!!!We will also chat about items such as this story.
Another of my favorite opiners took a look at the situation in Egypt today, offering a grim reminder of the realities: Pro-Morsi rally in Cairo. Professor Jacobson says, “Don’t let the recent anti-government protests fool you. The Islamists still are able to turn out large crowds in the New Egypt, as happened today in Cair0 where hundreds of thousands (how many hundreds varies from news report to news report) turned out in support of President Morsi and controversial Constitution passed over the objections of more liberal parties.”
Captain Obvious as obviously landed in Egypt, too. The Egypt Daily News reports that President Morsi is no friend to the US.
Egyptians fear decades of Muslim Brotherhood rule, warn Morsi is no friend to US
This is where they are shouting on bullhorns again, outraged because they say the Muslim Brotherhood has stolen the revolution and is railroading though a constitution that could lock in Muslim Brotherhood rule for 50 years, bringing more Islamic law. They cry — not against Islam — but that an extremist interpretation is being forced down their throats by a president who critics say is acting every part the tyrant.
This is also a warning, they claim, of what may happen across the Middle East. The era of the Muslim Brotherhood appears to have arrived. President Obama has hailed the Brotherhood’s President Mohammed Morsi as a pragmatist who helped end the Gaza crisis. Egyptians here think the Brotherhood has conned Washington, just like it conned them.
That’s OK. Our President isn’t much of a friend to the US, either. Morsi is just more honest about it.
