WELCOME TO THE SHRINE OF FLAMING CAPITALISM!!!!!
I opened the Temple of Mut in 2008, wishing to focus on stories related to ancient Egyptian history, culture, and archeology. When the financial crisis in September of that year arose, I began getting politically active. I wrote my California representatives and warned them: Legislate in haste, repent at leisure. Sure enough, they ignored me. Also, I was involved with the PUMA (Party Unity My A$$) movement, as I am a Democrat who could see what a narcissistic race-baiter Barak Obama was. In fact, I am and remain a:
Therefore, the Shrine went silent in deepest grief when he was elected, and all that I had foreseen has come to pass (in terms of Obama’s inept leadership style and toxic policy goals). Then there was the Stimulus Package, followed by the 2009 California budget with history-making tax increases, followed by a mortgage-relief program that punished the responsible and rewarded the irresponsible. I was home with a cold, surfing the net, one February afternoon. I began to follow the developments after viewing Rick Santelli’s historic rant:
I just had to go to a Tea Party. And, I did. Subsequently, I became the Media Coordinator for the San Diego Tea Party group – Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition. I also reopened the Temple of Mut as the “Shrine of Flaming Capitalism”. Now, to paraphrase the luminous Ann Althouse: I am an amateur Egyptologist who occasionally writes about ancient Egypt.
My other SoCal Tax Revolt Coalition co-founders are Sarah Bond and Dawn Wildman. They say that George Washington was the sword of the American Revolution, Thomas Jefferson its Pen, and Patrick Henry its voice. I would like you to meet the Voice, Sword and Pen of the Tea Party Revolution (from left to right): Sarah Bond, Dawn Wildman, and yours truly — Leslie Eastman.
Over the past few years, it has been my pleasure to work with a few like-minded bloggers. We have assembled the San-Diego Local Order of Bloggers (SLOBs). It has been referred to as the “PJ Media of San Diego”.
Citizen activism is a hobby, as well as ancient Egypt. My profit-center activity utilizes by scientific background: I have degrees in geology, chemistry and biochemistry. I am an environmental health and safety specialist who works with companies to ensure compliance with the complex regulations related to chemical and biological materials handling. I know what a good-faith effort my clients put into their programs, so I am both offended and motivated by eco-activists who smear all business enterprises as polluters. You will find a lot of my activism centers around rescinding regulations that were developed based on poor science and crony connections.
I also have a media background. I am a recovering journalist and sometimes freelance science-writer. I also have had the opportunity to opine on several television and radio news shows.
My son, the Young Prince, inspires a lot of my efforts. I want to ensure he has the best opportunity to utilize his many talents, be rewarded for his efforts, and give back to the community. He is thrilled that my Tea Party efforts have pushed-back against SOPA and PIPPA (yes, he knew what those were and why they are bad). He and his friends now question openly the concepts of man-made Global Warming. His biggest hero, after his dad, is George Washington:
You will find me often mentioning my husband, who I named Horemheb for the purposes of this blog. His hard work and patience supports the efforts of the Shrine.
