Dear Friends:  It will be my pleasure to be a guest on Canto Talk today as we look at the post-election news and events that unfolded this day in history in 1963.  As an extra bonus, we will be joined by Captain Capitalism himself…Aaron Clary (who will be discussing his new book).

Please join us at 7 pm PST/9 pm CT/10 pm EST or with an archived podcast by clicking here

Silvio and I are big fans of history, so we will spend some time recalling the events surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy:

Crowds of excited people lined the streets and waved to the Kennedys. The car turned off Main Street at Dealey Plaza around 12:30 p.m. As it was passing the Texas School Book Depository, gunfire suddenly reverberated in the plaza.

Bullets struck the president’s neck and head and he slumped over toward Mrs. Kennedy. The governor was also hit in the chest.
President Lyndon B. Johnson takes Oath of Office
The car sped off to Parkland Memorial Hospital just a few minutes away. But little could be done for the President. A Catholic priest was summoned to administer the last rites, and at 1:00 p.m. John F. Kennedy was pronounced dead. Though seriously wounded, Governor Connally would recover.

The president’s body was brought to Love Field and placed on Air Force One. Before the plane took off, a grim-faced Lyndon B. Johnson stood in the tight, crowded compartment and took the oath of office, administered by US District Court Judge Sarah Hughes. The brief ceremony took place at 2:38 p.m.

Less than an hour earlier, police had arrested Lee Harvey Oswald, a recently hired employee at the Texas School Book Depository.

Additionally, we will be talking about the history our President-Elect Donald Trump is making. Canto Talk listeners will recall my predictions that Trump had a great chance of winning, because the media was gas-lighting its American audience.

When my super-talented colleague Mary Chastain wrote about the new tone of state Republican party ads, she posted that Hillary Clinton was the most probable winner.

She would be right if the reports we were getting weren’t being offered through a haze of “Gaslight,” a point that conservative talk show host Tammy Bruce has been making often in recent days is that the elite media is manipulating the reports to distort reality to create a very specific outcome (e.g., 3 media organizations have given their employees orders to destroy Trump).

…SUNY Professor Helmut Norpoth, who has accurately predicted election outcomes for the last 5 election based on behavior models, says that Trump has a 87-99% chance of winning. He asserts the polls are bunk.

Based on the available data, I am inclined to agree. The polls are nothing more that the fuel for the gaslight fires.

Additionally, we will discussing Trump’s transition process and appointees! We invite you to join us for another historic show.

Dear Readers: I wanted to share a few thoughts on the anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11th. There are many places that are memorializing that day, and perhaps none as well as Glenn Reynolds/Instapundit (click here for his continually updated item). Lonely Conservative also offers a great video tribute (click HERE).

On Sept. 11, 2001, I was 6-months pregnant with the Young Prince. A phone call from Horemheb’s coworker woke us, and we turned on television. Both my husband and I knew this was an attack, as we realized a second plane had it the World Trade Center. As was my habit, I went swimming in the morning just to keep life as normal as possible. One of the memories I carry with me is going to the pool, and listening to all my neighbors’ televisions (it was a warm day, and windows were open). They were all watching the unfolding horror.

My son has always lived in a country at war. One of the blessings I am grateful for is that our armed forces have managed to keep the enemy away from our cities since that time. It makes it possible for my son and I to share special moments, such as completing a 4-mike hike for his Cub Scout achievements — which confirms I have recovered from my hip injury courtesy of the blessings of our wonderful medical community.

One of the items Glenn Reynolds quoted was this:

And here’s a passage from Lee Harris’s Civilization And Its Enemies.

Forgetfulness occurs when those who have been long inured to civilized order can no longer remember a time in which they had to wonder whether their crops would grow to maturity without being stolen or their children sold into slavery by a victorious foe.

They forget that in time of danger, in the face of the Enemy, they must trust and confide in each other, or perish. They forget, in short, that there has ever been a category of human experience called the Enemy. And that, before 9/11, was what had happened to us. The very concept of the Enemy had been banished from our moral and political vocabulary. An enemy was just a friend we hadn’t done enough for — yet. Or perhaps there had been a misunderstanding, or an oversight on our part — something that we could correct. And this means that that our first task is that we must try to grasp what the concept of the Enemy really means.

The Enemy is someone who is willing to die in order to kill you. And while it is true that the Enemy always hates us.

Perspective is a very valuable thing when dealing with friend and foe, and using reason instead of fear is critical. Therefore, the rest of this post will highlight aspects of perspective and reason in actually promoting truly American concepts of smaller government and fiscal responsibility during this important period in history.

Professor Jacobson has been covering the defeatist attitude pervading the “right-o-sphere” since the weekend and ginned-up analytics showing an Obama bounce. Today, in light of a Washington Post poll, the professors says: U.S.A.! U.S.A.! …”>OMG, Romney’s back, SURGE, Comeback Kid, clutching victory from jaws of defeat, nothing to fear but fear itself, it ain’t over ’till it’s over, I can see U.S. hockey victory over Obama from my poll, U.S.A.! U.S.A.! …

Yes, the elite media was always going to promote an “Obama bounce”, even though the Democrat convention was full of fail (see HERE and HERE for the best fiskings of the event).

The polls are crap. Richard Murdock became the GOP Senatorial candidate by defeating Dick Lugar at 10 points better than the public polls indicated. Scott Walker crushed is Democratic opponent in numbers far higher than presented the public polls. There is a great discussion on why the polls are useless on a CANTO TALK episode with the Prairie Editor’s Barry Casselman (click here it listen) iHey, I have a poll, too:

As far as I am concerned, mine is just as reasonable. The elite media is the enemy of the American people who want accurate news and information so they can make a fully informed choice.

The Ulsterman Report has a great look at polling internals that also make my point: WHITE HOUSE INSIDER: Ohio Now Turning To Romney – Polling Data 101

You see, that PP poll was taken from a +4 Democrat sample.  Right there the poll is hurting credibility wise.  But dig a little deeper.  That poll was also +9 for women sampled.  That’s a huge gap for Ohio.  +9 women polled over men?  Cross check that data.  You realize in Ohio women make up 51.2%  of the population.  This PP poll tries to alter that # so that it reflects women make up nearly 60% of Ohio population.  Which is way off and totally breaks apart the poll’s credibility.  Why would they do that?  Because Obama is polling better with women and Romney is polling better for men.  So cook the poll right off with a nearly 10 point advantage of women polled.  That alone would give Obama another 3-4% advantage in the final approval #s.  So you got a +4 Democrat sample.  And a heavily lopsided women sample that together accounts for about +8 favoring Barack Obama.  So compare that to the headline they used for the poll:

Obama up by 5 in Ohio.

In a polling sample that favored Barack Obama by nearly 10 points, the best he can do is a 5 point advantage.  Bluff called.  We send back a revised interpretation of the poll with a “Greetings from Ohio” postcard attached.

But there’s more bad news for Obama with this PPP data.  In the poll 5% of voters indicated they were still undecided.  Pretty big # this late in the game in a state that has been hammered by advertising and political appearances from both campaigns but especially the Obama team.  Those undecideds know Barack Obama.  If they liked him they would already be indicating plans to vote for him.  Campaign 101 is that the undecideds break AWAY from the incumbent and FOR the challenger by about 2 to 1.  So with that in mind, there’s another 2 or even 3 point advantage for Romney in Ohio with just the undecideds alone.

You want to know the headline Obama’s own internals are giving them in Ohio?  Want to know what the headline would read if it was published by a non-partisan slant?

Romney holds 3 point advantage in Ohio.

The media manipulations also impact student newspapers, as I discuss in College Insurrection. A professor who decided to be the talk of campus by nursing her infant in front of class was slated to be the focal point of a student newspaper report. She used all the classic liberal whines to try and get them to NOT run the story, including the claim of a “hostile work environment”. The story is here: No fluke – American U. Prof says has right to nurse child in front of class

It’s a piece I worked up, as those students pay a lot of money in tuition and deserve the instructor’s full attention and a distraction free environment. I hope the student newspaper runs the story, because the progressive assumptions and agenda-oriented classrooms deserves to be challenged.

I hope everyone who reads this today spend some time challenging opponents to our exceptionalism. With that in mind, here is today’s questions.

With that in mind, here is today’s question in anticipation of our “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” Americana-based show on Canto Talk this Thursday.

TRUE OF FALSE: The US Constitution is the second oldest and third shortest of any “major government in the world”. (Answer HERE).

Dear Readers: I want to start out with some thrilling news! One of the most energetic, humorous and insightful pundits is bringing me on to his elite team. William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection has asked me to help coordinate items for his new effort “College Insurrection”. He will also kindly shine a light on the Shrine, so this is an exciting development and much appreciated.

It also means that there will be a new media source available to college and university students, which ties into the thesis of Captain Capitalism’s book “Worthless”. So, I will help provide information to the young that the elite media and BIG EDUCATION elitists just won’t do! (MUT Note, the Captain will be joining me on CANTO TALK this Thursday, Aug. 23 at 7 pm PT/9 pm CT).

Word Warrior features another new media approach to vetting, via his review and analysis of 2016: Obama’s America: OBAMA’S AMERICA: DOWNSIZING THE USA.

I had a chance to screen the film last week. No fan of the President’s, I entered the theater expecting to agree with Mr. D’ Sousa’s underlying thesis. What I didn’t expect was to be impressed with the quality of this film; nor to be so fascinated as the film takes the audience around the world, tracing both the President’s and his father’s footsteps to interview people who knew both; and can help to explain the enigma that is this, our 44th President

I have to agree with Word Warrior that 2016: Obama’s America is an excellent movie. In fact, the Team Obama fundraising numbers are showing that the vetting that this movie does (and also via other non-traditional media sources)is finally being accomplished. It’s nice to see that Americans are now “down-sizing” Obama, instead of the reverse.

The movie features Obama’s anti-colonialist attitudes, which seemingly colors ALL his foreign policy tactics. It also highlights his close relation ship with American Communist Party member Frank Davis (not a composite mentor, though Obama tries to obscure his identity in the “autobiographies”.

The movie also shows an interview with George Obama, whose appreciation for the benefits of capitalism and inherent sense of self-responsibility and dignity are in stark contrast with his half-brother. Recently, George Obama asked the movie’s director, Dinesh D’Souza, for money to help cover his son’s medical bills (instead of asking his millionaire President brother), with these words: “Dinesh, you are like a brother to me.”

My New York friend, Lonely Conservative, reports that “2016” had higher earnings per theater than “Batman”. I must admit, given that Obama-supporting Hollywood’s box office numbers for the summer are flat, I am experiencing a bit of Schadenfreude!

One last item, as I am also experiencing Schadenfreude at Team Obama’s enthusiasm gap in the wake of the crowd differential in the wake of Mitt Romney’s bold decision to tap Paul Ryan as his Vice Presidential pick. Team Obama claims that they want smaller crowds, which an innovative approach to garnering support.

Yeah, sure.

The fact that the old media is in the tank for Team Obama is now transparently clear; and it is this mindless approach that makes a lot of material written about other topics also worse than useless. In fact, Beers with Demo fisks the Los Angeles Times today: Crime, smog, traffic and graffiti and all they have to show for it is this crappy newspaper

The article that stuck out for us, though, was the one on Republican candidate for Senate from Missouri, Todd Akin, who claimed the “legitimate rape” seldom makes woman pregnant. He has refused to step out of the race for his reckless and uninformed comments and here is the title of the Times’ article documenting this dust-up:

Tea party rogue: Todd Akin defies GOP bosses by staying in race

Now, we know that the Times will never miss an opportunity to bash conservatives and/or the tea party but there is an inconvenience about this title: Akin beat the tea party candidate and the one endorsed by Sarah Palin, Sarah Steelman in the primaries.

That doesn’t seem to matter to the Times. And they wonder why they’re bankrupt.

No, Akin was never Tea Party. It seems Claire McCaskill was hoping Akin would be her opponent, hoping he would implode. Sadly, he did — far too early for her, as the GOP seems to be taking measures to get another candidate in Akin’s place.

I will remind all my dear friends on this board that there is actually one more alternative to consider: A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE.

Given how angry Tea Party activists and Republicans are at Akin’s inane stance, resources can be used to support one of the 2 opponents Akin had: Preferably, Steeleman, as Palin supported her and that is a big spotlight.

I will also remind everyone that such an approach work worked in the Alaska Senate race in 2010. Though, this time, the write-in candidate will have grassroots support on a vast level.

Akin’s idiocy has caused me now to support McCaskill. I urge the Missouri GOP to think outside the box if Akin remains.

As the Paul Ryan/Math meme is going viral and Team Romney is going on a “Math Offensive”, I wanted to contribute one of my favorite graphics for this election cycle:

SLOB News and Notes:

B-Daddy has a great piece on how Conservatives and Libertarians compliment eachother, in terms of policy focus.

It is less obvious that conservatives need libertarians, but they do. First, their votes and energy are necessary to do battle with the forces of statism. On any individual issue, the pressure for government to “do something” often seems compelling. Only a firm adherence to principles, which libertarians seem better equipped to do, can beat back these impulses. Second, conservatives forget at their peril that the use of government to achieve their desired social ends usually ends badly for them. From the death of the church because it was identified with the monarchy in old Europe to Republicans becoming identified as the party of big government before the 2006 elections, marrying conservative social ends to the coercion of big government has been a loser. Further, funding big government conservative programs undermines the principled arguments for limited government.

It is a great piece, well worth reading in full.

Finally, to round out today’s reading, Mark Meckler has a piece on how Tea Party and its army of “citizen journalists” have beat “Occupy Wall Street” in the arena of public opinion.

Dear Readers: It’s a Saturday night, and Professor Jacobson at Legal Insurrection is wondering whether he should continue the Saturday Day Night “Race Card” game. As Team Obama has hit a new low, saying that small business owners are unhappy about Obama’s “You Didn’t Build That” dialog because it was spoken in a “black Dialect”, the good professor is wondering if he can keep up with the deluge.

I hope so, because such banality deserves a good mocking! Here is my new graphic (inspired by The Princess Bride), which is my contribution to the push-back we will all need to do through November 6th and beyond!

Dear Readers:  The MUT family is heading off to Las Vegas for my birthday, so I am taking a much needed vacay from the Shrine.  Therefore, I decided to make my Music Mix  feature “Poker Face”, by Lady Ga Ga (when she actually displayed some humor and originality, and before she decided to bash the usual cultural icons the entertainment glitterati regularly bash).

However, it seems that YouTube doesn’t have a version that’s playable, so check out vimeo:

The reason for this song? It is played in a scene of a movie both the Young Prince and I love — “Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief”.It’s when they hit the Lotus Casino in Vegas and forget their mission:

While digging around for appropriate linkage, I came across an update that makes the MUT family very happy: the movie, Percy Jackson – Sea of Monsters looks like it is due out the summer of 2013. Basically, its a retelling of Jason and the Argonauts, as the son of Poseidon and his friends head into the Sea of Monsters to find the mythical Golden Fleece.

Unlike Percy and his friends, I have no intention of getting distracted from my missions:

1) Spreading the love for ancient Egypt.
2) Underscoring the value of capitalism.
3) Kicking some major posterior Nov. 6th!

See you toward the end of this week. Until then:

P.S. Extra Bonus: The new “Lost Hero” installment, “Mark of Athena” is out in October! This will be one book I won’t have to nag the Young Prince to read.

PPS: A big THANKS and electronic HUG to Captain Capitalism, who gave me the most awesome birthday greeting I could get this year.

Dear Readers: Today, it’s MUT’s movie round-up.  Like Legal Insurrections’s Professor Jacobson, I find it difficult to interpret the SCOTUS decision as anything other than a battle loss.  From the class movie, “The Lion in Winter“:  I’ve suffered more defeats than you have teeth. I know one when it happens to me.   However, for those of you who simply want to focus on rigged polls and embrace desolation and depression, I have this line from “Moonstruck” for you:

The WAR can still be won!

ObamaTAX (the independent-conservative rechristened Obamacare) will not be implemented until 2014, and Romney says its repeal will be his first act upon becoming President.  Therefore, the day after his signature is dry on that executive order, this DEMOCRAT will be working for Romney’s re-election.  Romney has raised more than $4 million (as of this writing) since the senseless SCOTUS decision came down.  Happily, most of my fellow citizen activists do not seem to be inclined to roll over for this classless President — whose first act was to tweet:  BFD.

So, my response is this:  YOU CAN KISS MY ROYAL ROMANIAN ASS.

Shrine Friend Lorraine Yapps Cohen published a list of the 10 Reasons Obama is going to be crushed like the “Terminator” on Nov. 6th.  I think it is a great place to start to regain some enthusiasm:

Top ten reasons why Obama will lose the 2012 election

#1. In 2008, Americans were charmed by a newcomer who promised hope and change in the midst of growing national discontent….Now we know Barack Obama: who he is and who he isn’t; what he promised vs. what he delivered; what he says he’ll do and what he actually does; what he’s really about, where his values lie, and what he stands for, which is mostly his narcissistic self. Americans now know the real Barack Obama and don’t want any more of him.

#2. In 2008 when Obama took office, unemployment among Americans stood at 6.1%. Unemployment soared to 10% in the first two years of his administration. Today, it stands at 8.2% despite that the reporting is statistically manipulated to pose a prettier picture.

#3. Americans want to be all they can be and free of the social polices that stunt what made America exceptional. Democracy based on the Constitution works. Socialism doesn’t….Obama’s brand of socialism simply doesn’t jive with the American spirit. And constitutionality cast to the wind won’t win him votes.

#4. America is known as the land of opportunity….By his actions, Obama favors equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity. We don’t get opportunity when government instead assigns equality according to race, color, creed, gender, or religion.

#5. We will not re-elect a President who has spent too much on green technologies that don’t work.

#6. Political polarization runs rampant. Americans are tiring of the extremes that divide. Obama promised to unite us. Instead he uses class warfare to divide us. We are not going to vote for more of that.

#7. Our homes have lost their luster as the embodiment of the American Dream. The housing market is dying, if not dead as a doornail in some locations already. Houses have lost 30-50% of their former values. …Where is the Obama-made change in housing that we were promised?

#8. The national debt increased to $15.7 trillion under Obama’s spending spree. This puts our children and their children in financial bondage to government. By not electing Obama, we eliminate more of the same for four more years, putting an end to the horrific prospect of interminable debt.

#9. Obama has no idea how to generate wealth. His scheme for making money is to tax whatever wealth Americans earned for themselves while declaring war on businesses that created wealth in the first place.

#10. And finally, Americans cannot and will not re-establish as President an apologist for our national greatness. ..
President Obama might take national demise down the paths of such righteousness, but he won’t win another election that way.

The entire post offers further details and links, so please check back. Meanwhile, the San Diego Local Order of Bloggers (SLOBs) is a source of great analysis and inspiration:

  1. The ruling didn’t expand the power of the commerce clause to infinity.
  2. Most conservatives had always felt that had the mandate been honestly labeled as a tax, it would have never been challenged.
  3. I always thought the mandate’s financial penalty was too weak to force compliance.
  4. Because the mandate is a tax, it’s repeal can’t be filibustered in the Senate, where the rules on filibuster do not apply to spending bills.
  5. The mandate has no criminal enforcement provision, including asset forfeiture in the portion of the tax code in which it resides.
  6. The ruling on the Medicaid portion is likely to be more substantive.
  7. The Chief Justice worked to protect the reputation of the court.
  8. This is likely to help Romney, who is making the argument that the only way to get rid of Obamacare is to get rid of Obama.
  9. The court has ruled officially that Obama has raised taxes on the middle class.
  10. Ultimately the public got what it deserves for electing Democrats in such overwhelming numbers, including the 2008 nominee, who lacked the experience to inject any leadership into this miserable bill. We are reminded of why we need a tea party movement to restore government to constitutional limits because we, the people, demand it.

I must disagree with B-Daddy on Point #10 — In 2008, Team Obama perpetrated the most significant fraud on the American Public in history — portraying Obama as a centrist. This meme was helped along by the elite media. Needless to say, the new media has been a dynamic force to set the record strait, which is reason #11 for both the above lists:

Reason #11 Obama will loose (Courtesy of Charles Caesar of Doo Doo Economics):

Original by Charles Caesar of Doo Doo Economics.

(MUT Note: Hey, Reason and Powerline — we SLOBs had this graphic first).  Yes, it is a TAX!

Reason #11 NOT to give into despair: THE NEW MEDIA WILL NEVER REST. Via Pat_Ess on Twitter, Tammy Bruce got the word out that Obamacare has been Transformed into ObamaTAX!#ObamaTax now resides as the hottest new Twitter Hashtag:

And if you want to help the process along, contribute an entry to #ObamaCareInThreeWords

One last thought: Which iconic movie man do you want to be, facing extreme challenges and daunting odds —

The whiner in “Aliens”:

Or John McClane in Die Hard?

This is what I will be saying as I head to the polls Nov. 6th:

Yippee ki yay, Mother Fucker!!!

(Quick — call the civility police — a Tea Party leader just swore at Obama).

Dear Readers:  It looks like Romney has become the “presumptive nominee” and Tea Party types, PUMAs, independent conservatives, and all other civil-liberty embracing Americans are now gearing up for the general election campaign.  My feelings?  Well, I had the famous scene from “The Ten Commandments” in my head, in which the lovely Nefertari heralds Moses’ return from war with flowers and adoration from her balcony:

It seems that while Romney was giving his best, and highly presidential, speech to essentially kick-off the General Election, the Once was “slow jamming” and making a complete buffoon of himself and pissing on the dignity of the office. Obama — here is some Egyptological advice I am going to give to you for free: Pharaoh Akhenaten had himself, his wife, and his family made the sole focus of worship in his country. It didn’t work out well for him, and it isn’t going to work out well for you, either. It’s not too late to learn a little grace and humility.

Anyway, my title today is an homage to Michelle’s Mirror, and how it alters that preposition in its humorous descriptions of the First Couple’s antics. It’s also a reminder that when Romney says something along the lines of “Obama is a nice guy“, the BUTT that follows negates all the platitudes and Romney is tactically excoriating Team Obama for all its failures.

Hat-tip: Michelle's Mirror

Interestingly, Moonbattery reports that Michelle Obama was the “mastermind” behind the attack on Ann Romney. But, I digress.

Via KT Cat, I would like to comment a Secular Apostate post that details Obama’s most outstanding achievement: THE WORST ECONOMIC RECOVERY IN HISTORY. Secular Apostate notes the basis for this fiscal washout — uncertainty. In fact, it is so bad, the illegal aliens are leaving for better economic opportunities. Furthermore, the failures permeate downward: WC Varones shows that even a massive FDA/Agriculture Dept. bureaucracy cannot seem to prevent Mad Cow disease. Though, if Obama does achieve re-election, I may strive to get Mad Cow disease — it would be less painful.

Other Failures:

1) Americans have lost a great deal of their personal liberties. This from Charles Caesar — President Obama has just signed HR 347, Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011, which makes Free Speech in the form of protesting near the Secret Service officially a felony. One year in jail should dissuade anyone from challenging the Secret Service’s new power to decide when First Amendment protections apply.

2) Americans are being harassed by Obama’s real “Civilian National Security Force” — aka, the TSA! Exhibit 631 – Weeping four-year-old girl accused of carrying a GUN by TSA officers after she hugged her grandmother while passing through security. Despite the fact our “War on Terror” is over, our 4 year olds are treated as terrorists. With my new metal hip, I really will have to give a great deal of thought before flying the friendly skies. Executives and employees of the airline industry should be concerned about the enormous loss of business the TSA is causing.

3) Race relations have gone to hell.

Hillary is 44 has another take on Romney’s campaign approach: THE NEW FAIR DEAL. As long as we get a new First Couple this November, it will be fair indeed.

For those of you on the anti-Romney train, I say this again (and will repeat myself, as needed, through the electy cycle): Given all the excrement I have listed above, if you wish to NOT vote or vote third party because of your ego or some sort of uncompromising principle, then have the gonads to pull the lever for Obama. It will be the same result, and I would respect you more.

I would also like to share an awesome post from NoOneofAnyImport, detailing her “Offend a Feminist Week” concept: In the midst of all this, here I am trying to prepare for Offend A Feminist week. And preparation I sorely need, for although I am female and therefore qualified in at least some respect to comment on All Things Feminine, my view of “feminism” as a field of sociological thought is about the same as my view of “psychiatry” as a field of medicine, which is to say I view them dimly and from as far away as possible, wearing my credulous face all the while.

I will really have to join her in a rant on this subject, soon.

A few videos to conclude this piece today. Lipstick Underground shares the viral “If I Wanted America to Fail” YouTube video. A must see, truly. And, the best way to conclude today’s Egypt-based opining is this oldie-but-goodie from the McCain campaign of 2008 — The One, featuring “The Ten Commandments”.

Dear Readers:  My theme today is a rare chance for me to blend Egyptophila with citizen activism.  Last night, my beloved Horembeb and I had a passionate discussion about whether the Tea Party was dead, given some recent incidents (e.g., some recent poorly attended rallies, the GOP takeover of several national-level organizations).  Interestingly, Left Coast Rebel was leading a similar discussion around this same time:  Rumors of the Tea Party’s Death is Highly exaggerated.

I think the death of the Tea Party is highly exaggerated. Many are tired and dispirited. Most Tea Partiers have simply moved into underground Sons of Liberty liberty watch-guards. Instead of orchestrating historic national protests, they are in one way or another changing the nation from within the political system.

This made me recall some of the classic “Universal” horror movies, featuring “The Mummy”. During the Cycle of the Full Moon, the High Priest of Karnak would brew tana leaves, read from the “Book of the Dead”, and voila — the mummy was reborn.

Sarah Bond, my SoCal Tax Revot Coalition partner, and continued with the conversation that Horemheb and I had — deciding that most true Tea Parties has evolved into handling local issues, school boards, mayoral elections, voter fraud matters, and other items that were probably more valuable to limited government/fiscal sanity in the long run. After 2 plus years of activism, we realize the Tea Party truly comes alive during the “Election Cycle”. Basically, we now hold our rallies in the voting booth and during party conventions. Subsequently, most groups we know are gearing up for both the June election in California and the General Election on Nov. 6th of this year.

In fact, nationally known activist Mark Meckler has a “Waning Tea Party” series which pokes holes in various assertions of the elite politicos and legacy media about the Tea Party. Mark says: And yet still, every time I’m interviewed in the national media about the tea party, I’m asked if tea party enthusiasm is waning. Sometimes the interviewer will even tell me that the tea party is going away. But unlike them, I’m out here on the ground, traveling the country and meeting with activists. I’m living day to day inside of the movement and I see what’s gong on. The tea party movement is not going away. In fact, it’s becoming bigger, stronger and more organized. It’s maturing into a muscular political movement that is driving the entire country back to its founding principles.

In fact, I would like to give everyone a heads-up that we women of SoCal Tax Revolt Coalition are in the initial stages of planning a very special event, and we are targeting the time around the November election to hold it. Without giving too much away, the theme will correspond to countering the false War on Women” meme and highlight the fact that the TEA PARTY IS AMERICA’S GREATEST FEMINIST MOVEMENT.

I like to think of it like this (one of my very favorite scenes from one of my all time favorite “Mummy” movies):

All this “Tea Party Wake” news comes from non-participants and detractors who wish to see what that want to see, not what is. To quote the “Egyptian Book of the Dead” (aka, the Book of Going Forth by Day): “I am yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and I have the power to be born a second time. I am the divine hidden soul who created the gods and give sepulchral meals to the denizens of the deep, the place of the dead, and heaven.”

In the meantime, all the engaged activists I ever knew are raring to go for the upcoming elections. For example, the San Diego Local Order of Bloggers (SLOBs), are closer, more connected, and more involved than we were at the start of the Tea Party movement. I can only think that the same is true in many other areas, as long as groups are not being made into tools and minions of local political organizations and vile corruptocrats.

Here are some Tea Party items brewing in my sacred cup of tana:

Dead?  Hardly!  And to conclude, here is a YouTube I discovered while preparing this post.  It covers deleted scenes from the 1932 classic Universal movie, “The Mummy” with Boris Karloff.   It shows scenes of the lives of the oft reincarnated Princess Ankhsenamen (the great love of Imhotep/Boris Karloff).  These photos come from portions of the film that didn’t make the final version, but are a treasure to an Egyptophile such as myself.

Dear Friends:  Before I begin to explain why the Shrine has gone silent these past few days, I wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to all my readers and supporters.  I landed as Political Mom Blogger #35, courtesy of your kind votes.  Given the luminaries in the list, that is an honor I will cherish.  I was delighted to note that new Shrine Friend, the Lonely Conservative, was voted #1.  It is great seeing independent-conservative moms being so creative and connected.  It bodes well for 2012.

Now, the reason for the silence.  It seems I was just a titch too excited about the quashing of Obamacare by the Supreme Court — I DID break my leg.  The upper top femur, to be exact.  It seems that the hairline fracture became a full one during my Thursday morning attempt to clean the leavings from the Shrine’s sacred cat.  I explored pain levels at that moment that few mortals have known.  In fact, let this picture be your guide:

(Aside – I will revisit the Mosby Pain Scale, creating a Political version suitable for discussing the rest of Obama’s term).

Horemheb made arrangements with my USCD Family Medicine clinic for an urgent care visit, all the way from the remote Northern Station of Santa Barbara, and has come down for the week during my ensuing recovery process. My in-laws took me to the clinic; my father-in-law, a fabulous doctor himself, made sure all the treatment recommendations made sense. My mother-in-law (a divine woman, whom I adore), stayed with me for as long as possible until I was taken to a room to be prepared for hip replacement surgery.

Now, I am the Bionic Blogger:

Gentlemen, we can rebuild MUT. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world’s first bionic blogger. She will be that pundit. Better than she was before. Better, stronger, faster.

More able to kick some elite, establishment posterior in the 2012 election season, as well as punch-back on legacy media hijinks.

Now, I am no $6 million pundit: That realm is along the lines of Glenn Reynolds/Instapundit. However, Horemheb informs me that the first survey of charges on my hip replacement surgery is that I am at least worth $50,000. Due to the fact we work hard, make health insurance a priority, and budget wisely, I was able to experience the total platinum standard of medical care from the great team at UCSD Hillcrest, where the Young Prince was born 10 years ago. Again, it seems I was a novelty patient — being young for this type of injury. So, I got tons of extra attention from the medical staff. That is one of the great advantages of going to a teaching hospital.  I am glad I was able to enjoy the benefits of the free market healthcare system (or as free market as all the regulations and bureaucracy allows it to be) before it potentially disappears.

All the doctors, nurses and assistants were exceptional. I would love to thank them all personally, but some of the fine medications deleted names from the memory banks. However, Orrin (an orthopedic doctor overseeing much of my care) was exceptional, helping adjust my leg during a particularly challenging X-ray and answering all my questions. The nursing staff, including Gretchen, Carolina, Sheryl and Raida were fabulous. Raida was particularly kind yesterday, helping me walk around the entire 8th floor while I made her talk — being originally from Bulgaria, she had such a lovely lilt to her voice, I asked her about becoming an RN in San Diego.

One of the many silver linings is that I have had a chance to see the ripple I have made in people’s lives, which is something that might go unappreciated until death. I am so glad I have gotten a ton of support from my fellow bloggers (the San-Diego Local Order of Bloggers), my church, the friends I have made at the Young Prince’s school (who are making sure that he can make it back and forth to school once Horemheb returns to the Northern Outpost next week), and my family.  I would especially like to thank WC Varones for the visit and “Scalia Dissents” and SoCal Tax Revolt Coaltion’s Dawn Wildman for the flowers — a testament to how closely we Tea Party types have boded over these past years.  Between all of  my kind friends, the food, laundry, cleaning and other essentials have been handled so I can properly recovered.  Interestingly, no federal or state agency was involved.  However, one of my dearest friends, Miss Mo (no conservative she, as a proud Wellesley liberal, we have vigorous debates with respect) has been a mover and shaker it getting all of this arranged before I even made it home

Truly, I cannot be more blessed in life.

As an extra bonus: Father Anthony is coming over Thursday for an “anointing of the sick”. Horemheb may try and convince him an exorcism is more in order. I hope to write about this in my Catholic blog later this week.

That’s all the punditry for today. It seems I will have lots more time for writing these next 4-6 weeks.  Your continuing prayers and support would be most welcome.  In the meantime, I will be enjoying some unanticipated leisure time to:

Dear Readers:  Before I give another pro-capitalism inspired news analysis, I would like to thank everyone who voted for me in the Circle of Moms Top 25 Political Mom’s competition (I am at #38 as of now!!!).  Apparently, like in Ron Paul polling, you can vote more than once — on different days and computers.  So, please help promote the Shrine and its associated SLOBs site and click HERE (how to vote for Temple of Mut).

It seems that Andrew Breitbart’s spirit may already be intervening in Hollywood.  This Big Hollywood Headline caught my attention: Weekend Box Office: ‘Hunger Games’ Still #1, ‘Titans’ Solid #2, Julia Roberts Weak #3

Last week, when Hunger Games was #1 as well, Lipstick Underground noted:

In a live interview, Wolfie tried uber-hard to pin a gotcha moment on Mitt Romney for taking his grandchildren to the Hunger Games. “It’s PG-13. Is it a little too violent for young kids?”

Having already read the popular teen-novel, Romney replied, “I think it’s a little disturbing for young kids, “ but that his grandkids are about 13 and everyone enjoyed it.

What I wish Mittens has said, and what I think Blitzer (and Statists everywhere) fears, is that the Hunger Games is about Freedom….with a healthy dose of battling evil with honor…and a plot driven by the importance of knowing how to hunt, skin, and eat animals.

So go ahead, W.B, be the nanny all you want, meanwhile millions and millions of teenagers everywhere cannot get enough of this story.

P.S. Just Google “Hunger Games Freedom” …I promise it will make you smile.

I did, and here are the heartening results:

Word Warrior was out this weekend, and viewed “Wrath of the Titans”. He noted that the movie’s producers may have sent an unintended conservative message: that order is maintained by traditional values, personified by the gods; and that without these, chaos is unleashed.

He and I agreed on one point: If they make a sequel to this sequel, there has to be some goddesses. I sense our reasons differ for this, however.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fact that Julia Robert’s “Mirror,Mirror” is floundering . This proves that insulting your potential customers is an entertainment business model that is full of fail. It is also proves somewhat Word Warriors’ contention that: Apparently the lady deities suffered more acutely from a lack of worshiper’s love than their male counterparts, fading away all the quicker. Come to think of it that is perhaps the one thing in this film that rings the truest!

Yep. Except it is an entirely different consequence for this goddess!!! You dis the Goddess of Capitalism, you will feel her wrath.

I guess when Hollywood wants a profit, they are willing to unleash the conservative memes. I guess the spirit of Breitbart may now control Hollywood.
