Dear Readers: It seems to me that as of yesterday, signs from God about the direction of the country were everywhere. The unusual earthquake yesterday (humorously noted to be along Bush’s fault on Twitter) generated the following news on Drudge: QUAKE CRACKS (Washington) MONUMENT… Stones fall off National Cathedral…Highly unusual on East Coast…. Liberals, who chided Bush for being calm in the presence of young children while getting the first reports on 9-11, seem not to care that Obama continued his golf game (even while the extent of damage in this unusual quake was unknown).
Meanwhile, VA rebuilds:
Another image, and sign of the Divine, caught my eye, too:
Nancy Reagan last night lost her balance and fell as she arrived to watch a speech by Republican freshman senator and Tea Party darling Marco Rubio. The frail former First Lady was being escorted to her seat in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, in Simi Valley, California, by Senator Rubio when she lost her footing and took a tumble. Mrs Reagan had asked Senator Rubio to speak at her late husband’s presidential library following his election to the U.S. Senate last year.
Tweet analysis also shows the direction in which the country is heading, which makes me very optimistic about 2012. That, and Professor Jacobson’s bumper sticker analysis!

Leslie, strange days, indeed, this past week.
Obviously, worthy of this submission from one of my favorite bands.

Today’s print edition of the San Diego Union-Tribune has a letter to the editor that begs for some sort of reply. Thom Davies, Associate Professor of Environmental Control Technology of San Diego City College, takes Michelle Bachman to task for saying that “radical environmentalists have demanded that we lock up all our energy resources” –and accuses HER of radicalism, and failure understand the delicate balance needed for energy policy.

He cites the blackened city building of Europe as proof that environmental controls are necessary.
It occurs to me that he has no idea what Ms. Bachman’s positions are, and that he is responding to what somebody else said about her positions.
I’ve been to Europe, too. I’ve lived in one of those buildings. The US never had the kind of coal dust pollution that West Germany had. Ms. Bachman is not talking about the past, and she’s not talking about rolling back regulations on coal dust, which have been in place for decades. She is talking about other matters entirely.
I’ve already got my letter in for the month, so I know the U-T won’t print anything from me. Can somebody else reply?
The Tea Parties are built one person at a time. Does anybody know this person? Perhaps if Mr. Davies were given more context, he might find that he actually agrees with Ms. Bachman.
