The Black Swan Theory: An event that is a surprise (to the observer) and has a major impact, then rationalized by hindsight. It seems between earthquakes, tsunamis, nuclear reactor meltdowns, and volcanic eruptions are plaguing friend and ally to the United States — Japan. During it all, President Obama couldn’t be bothered to follow the news and render any form of leadership. He golfed.
Obama — hits rock bottom, then pulls out the jackhammer.
People — there is so much going on, it is easy to get distracted. For my San Diego area friends, fighting the good fight in California, here are some tidbits of news you will want to follow if you value your liberty and economic freedom:
From Shane Atwell: Institute for Justice fighting eminent domain abuse in National City. Trial starts tomorrow.
From Kimberly Dvorak: Ranch hand murdered near San Diego U.S./Mexico border
From SCTRC: STOP AB23/SBX12, THE “RENEWABLE ENERGY” MANDATE BILL !!!
Nick-named “Son of AB32,” SB 23, the high-cost “renewable” energy that will require California to purchase 33% of its energy from “renewable sources” within 10 years.
Because the California Legislature is in what is called the Extraordinary Session, SB23 has been RE-TITLED as SBX1 2…and they are trying to pass it NOW!!!!!!!
SBX1 2 is an express train to economic destruction!
* The green energy mandated by the bill can be anywhere from four to ten times as expensive as traditional energy.
* The bill is a wealth transfer to other states and nations, where the energy will be purchased from. California’s nightmare bureaucracy will not allow the quick construction even of green energy power plants.
* Monopolistic utilities will raise YOUR rates to increase their portfolio of green energy. They will get guaranteed profits while you pay.
* Higher energy costs mean higher costs for businesses and more lost jobs.
* The bill is based on an illogical definition of “renewable” which says large-scale hydro power does not count. Hydro currently accounts for 12% of energy production and should be included.
CALL THE APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE AND TELL THEM WE CAN’T AFFORD THIS BILL IN CA!

Lorraine Yapps Cohen has a companion piece that is essential reading: Say goodbye to electricity on demand
B-Daddy also has a great piece discussing the man-made disaster we Californians like to call our state budget.
One last item, returning to the disaster in Japan and tying it into California. I am reading rumors that our flying around that significant fallout may occur over the Pacific Coast. I wanted to remind people that the elite media has a deep desire to support President Obama by creating distractions that make it hard to focus on the total failure that is this President-of-China-wannabe. Therefore, expect to be treated to exaggerated claims, distorted data, and interviews with the irrational in a race for ratings.
Here is a piece to keep in mind: Why Japan’s Nuclear Meltdown Is No Chernobyl
I will add more information about this matter as I find it.
UPDATE 1: From a nuclear power expert – You Can Stop Worrying About A Radiation Disaster In Japan — Here’s Why
UPDATE 2: Charles Caesar has another disaster item – 51.2% of Americans are Government Dependent.
I know this data is a little late, but
http://blog.doodooecon.com/2011/03/512-of-americans-are-government.html
Around 51.2% of Americans are Government Dependants.
His calculation is too low.
He doesn’t tote up employees at the second remove: government contractors and their employees, K-Street lobbyists, the attorney phalanx, the farming community living off of rigged markets ( Jimmy peanut Carter ), the medical community stuffed with Federal largesse, the Money Trust ™ centered around MERS…
He’s way too low.
We now live under Central Planning.
Not only did Barry golf, but he picked his NCAA bracket teams.
Meanwhile Japan is hurting. In Libya, the rebels seem to be routed. And the US still has no budget.
Abject Failure – see the presidency of Barrack Hussein Obama Jr.
I could not agree with you more on all points.

We passed the point of no return when Social Security became the ‘third rail’ of American politics. The new ‘third rail’ is, appropriately enough for the bipartisan evil that envelopes us, Ike’s “Military-Industrial Complex.” They’ve expanded mightily since 9/11, feeding off the fear. When you have to choose between being microwaved or groped by T&A, ask yourself Cicero’s question, “Who benefits.” Cicero knew. He watched a republic die, in spite of his best efforts, which cost him his life.
In sum, the Welfare State has many millions of dependents, and the Warfare State has many millions more. (I refer to the civilians making money off ‘homeland security’ and ‘defense,’ not to those in military service.) The votes are on the side of expansion. They will remain there. I highly doubt if our system can be reformed, and for every domestic spending cut the Tea Party wins, we lose on something like the so-called “Patriot Act” being renewed, which consolidates and expands government power and spending just as much as social welfare programs do.
We waited too long to wake up, and we didn’t have enough help to save the Republic. We’ll have to wait until the system collapses of its’ own weight to have a real chance at restoring liberty.
