Check Out: ANGELS AMONG US – DANIEL HERNANDEZ, whose bravery probably saved Giffords.
Dear Readers: I am posting a new series of updates on the shooting of 18 victims outside a Tucson Mall yesterday. This post will focus on the elite media meme that was attempted yesterday that shooterJared Lee Loughner was a Tea Party activist, which is a damn lie. As a writer who has been a news reporter and is an occasional Fox Business pundit, I wanted to prepare this piece for reference.
The most significant item to start: There is actually a way you can protest the media distortions, if you are so inclined. Courtesy of my activism guru, Kevin Dujan and his HillBuzz Team, I have discovered Democratic State Congresswoman Linda Logan was responsible for driving the media meme that Loughner was a right-wing whacko — an insult to all feeling Americans who disagree with political representatives of any stripe with respect and civility.
How about using the upcoming week to put immense pressure on Democrat Linda Lopez to apologize to all Americans for turning the tragic assassination attempt on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords into a partisan political attack by Democrats on the Tea Party movement.
Arizona state representative Lopez was a high profile driving force behind the immediate effort on the Left to blame the Tea Party for the shooting of Congresswoman Giffords and the murder of 6 bystanders yesterday (with scores more injured). Without having a single piece of information, Lopez took to the airwaves condemning the Tea Party and conservatives for the murder spree.
Jared Lee Loughner, the would-be assassin, is a confirmed Leftist Democrat upset with Congresswoman Giffords for being a conservative Democrat who was not Leftist enough for his tastes.

If you want to cut/paste, here it is again:
Ad a side note, please keep the dead in your prayers. The names have been released (via Michelle Malkin):
The deceased have been identified as: Judge John Roll ,63; Dorthy Murray, 76; Dorwin Stoddard, 76; Christina Greene, 9; Phyllis Scheck, 79; and Gabriel Zimmerman, 30.
For background, here is dialog prepared by a HillBuzz commenter, an exchange between FNC’s Shepard Smith and Logan:
Smith: “Looking back over her [Gifford’s] career over the last couple of years, it would appear that she’s been targeted by people for some level of violence more than once.”
Lopez: “There has been so much vitriol slung at her by the Tea Party people. Ummm… You know her opponent was in the election… was a Tea Party candidate and the signs that were up around town accusing her of horribble things. Ummm… You know when people make these kinds of comments… you know it pushes some folks over the edge.”
Smith: “Have there been threats recently that you know of?”
Lopez: “Not that I’m aware of… not that I’m aware of…”
Smith: “Do you know anything about who this person was? Have you heard a description of this person?”
Lopez: “I have heard… and I don’t know this for a fact, but I read that this person was an Afghan vet.”
Smith: “A veteran of the war in Afghanistan?”
Lopez: “Yes. Uhmm-hmmmm.”
UPDATE 1: Via Instpundit, Jennifer Rubin – You can almost hear the disappointment from the left that he was a pothead rather than a Tea Partyer.
UPDATE 2: Via Bizzyblog: PJM column on the “...Media Losing It“: The political anger comes from people who can’t win an honest debate, and whose view of the world is demonstrably false. If they want to throw their intellectual weight around, the easy way is to attack their opponents in a very personal and nasty way (the hard way is to rethink their view of the world).
UPDATE 3: Here is the way a real reporter uncovers news, FNC Gretawire: GIFFORDS WAS TARGET BECAUSE SHE WAS A JEW; ANTI-SEMITISM THE CORE OF SHOOTER’S MOTIVE:
…suspect is possibly linked to this group. (through videos posted on his myspace and YouTube account.). The group’s ideology is anti government, anti immigration, anti ZOG (Zionist Occupational Government), anti Semitic. Gabrielle Gifford is the first Jewish female elected to such a high position in the US government. She was also opposite this group’s ideology when it came to immigration debate.*
UPDATE 3: Hot Air’s Captain Ed notes that CNN hardly covered themselves in glory during yesterday’s coverage:
Not just on CNN, either, but CNN holds itself out as an unbiased, middle-road news source that people of all political stripes can trust. Instead, they demonstrated their hostility by taking shots at the Right and Palin through the exploitation of a tragedy and horror that no one understood and for which no evidence existed to suggest any link at all. We expect that on Twitter, where people on both sides of the political divide wrote things they will (or should) regret later. CNN owes everyone an apology for their nasty, hysterical, and biased coverage in the aftermath of the shooting yesterday, perhaps especially Sarah Palin.

UPDATE 5: Democrat Congressman Bob Filner made this formal statement (you can contact him HERE to express your opinion about Americans’ First Amendment Rights of Freedom of Speech and Peaceful Assembly).
Washington, DC – Statement from Congressman Bob Filner on the tragic shooting today in Arizona: “Gabby Giffords is a good legislator and a good friend. We work closely together as U.S./Mexico border Congressmembers. We pray for her full recovery.
“I cannot help but believe that the violent context of the recent election is responsible for this tragedy. Many of us were physically threatened by those who believed they were “right” and we were “wrong” – we were “enemies,” rather than sincere people with different opinions.
“Their incendiary talk – given legitimacy by equally incendiary talk shows – make violence an acceptable political tactic. Violence as acceptable – bolstered by easy access to guns – made this tragedy almost inevitable.
“Let us all resolve to recommit ourselves to what is truly exceptional about America – that we conduct our politics with debate and respect, not violence.
The email blast sent out Sunday morning to its supporters tells members that “we don’t know yet” why Jared Loughner shot Gabrielle Giffords but goes on to lay the blame on Sarah Palin and Gifford’s opponent in the past election for using “violent imagery” in his campaign.
The email goes on to ask members to “join us in sharing your thoughts and prayers to the Congresswoman and her family by visiting our website where we have set up a page for you to do so.” Naturally once you click on the link you are taken to a page that prominently displays the group’s DONATE NOW button. It is not in the slightest way discreetly designed. As soon as you go to this so-called prayers page you see a large button asking for donations and another one underneath it urging visitors to “sign up” for email blasts and information.
UPDATE 6: Via Verum Serum – The following map ...”appears on this page of the Democratic Leadership Committee website (dated 2004 during the Bush years). I guess we could argue over whether the DLC counts as “senior party officials” but they’re certainly as much a part of the party as Palin who, after all, currently holds no elected office.”
