Dear Readers: I want to spend highlight a few recent posts that I have found interesting, and update everyone on the effort to repeal California’s AB-32, the state’s version of Cap and Trade.
The effort and the website has been re-titled: YES ON PROPOSITION 23. As veteran citizen activist, Richard Rider notes, it is through focus on propositions (and not necessarily candidates) that our Tea Party efforts can really shine. Just a few reminders as to wht the Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition and other state Tea Party groups are going to be very active in passing Proposition 23:
California’s AB-32, if fully implemented, will
- Cost California up to 1.1 million jobs
- Cost the average family $3,857 a year in greatly increased expenses for housing, transportation, food and energy
- Cost $49,691 per small business
- Result in a total loss of output of $182.649 billion
Devastate budgets of California social services agencies through massive losses in tax revenue
- Put government in charge of previously individual decisions
In related news, Climategate: A Veteran Meteorologist Exposes the Global Warming Scam is being promoted. In it, a highly respected meteorologist breakswith his peers to show that the push to restrict carbon-dioxide emissions, form tax energy programs and create a committee to limit household energy use is aimed at one thing only – giving government unlimited control over people. I have my copy on order!
Related to Richard Rider, SoCal-TRC will be joining his San Diego Tax Fighters and other citizen action organizations through the city to fight-back on the proposal to put a measure on the November ballot to increase the city sales tax.
In more economic news, W.C. Varones is leading an informative discussion on devaluation as a potential solution AND analysis of DOW data is showing the “Summer of Recovery” looks more like the patterns seen in the Great Depression. There is also a great Krauthammer analysis on the unemployment numbers.
Finally, instead of taking on law-breaking, racist goons, the Department of Justice thought the best use of its resources was declaring war on a state that is actually enforcing the law of the land. Expected and unprecedented all at once! The Liberator Today sums it up best: Bottom line: No immigration reform without enforcing the border first, that’s it, that’s final, we’re not negotiating.
We were discussing heroes yesterday. Here is my modern one: J. Christian Adams — whistleblower extraordinaire:
Beers with Demo has a report on another one, with a request to donate: Del Mar’s John Cote is walking across America to raise awareness of our nation’s military as well as funds for the Fisher House foundation which builds rest homes for injured service members and their families to use during treatment. Cote began his 2,140 mile journey on April 1st and is on schedule to complete it at Fort Benning, Georgia on Wednesday. Cote has raised $20,000 thus far.
Finally, for those of my readers who are spiritually inclined (or interested in religion and history), the Anchoress has a new gig. She will be in charge of the Catholic Portal at a website called Patheos. The link to her portal is HERE. Those of you interested in other faiths can surf the site from there. The Shrine wish her tons of luck, and I will be reading the Patheos Catholic section often.
