Dear Readers: A “Boob-Gate” update for those readers of mine who are scientifically minded; I have a low-cut, yet tasteful, silk blouse on and the only tremor felt today was when a truck rolled by the house! Still, the day is young — and I will update this post periodically with any new findings.
I don’t often focus on a pet-peeve on this site, but today I must. I am a long-term Lancome cosmetics user. I became when when the corporation had the ethereal Isabella Rossellini as their ambassador. I tried the Lancome lines at that time, and found the colors a great match for my autumnal tones. The skin moisturizer with SPF-30 protection was outstanding.
Sadly, I must now stage a mini-boycott — and encourage others to join me. Lancome has decided to trot out the trite Julia Roberts as its new ambassador.
Besides being hideously over-rated, in terms of both looks and acting ability, I find Julia Roberts forays into political commentary divisive, ignorant, and insulting to a good portion of her potential viewing audience. For instance, her statement: “Republican comes in the dictionary just after reptile and just above repugnant.” More of the wit and wisdom of Julia Roberts can be found BY CLICKING HERE.
I wrote Lancome the following letter:
I despise Julia Roberts and will not buy your products until she is no longer your ambassador. I have been a long term user of your product lines, including Lancome Bienfait Multi-vital SPF 30, the Definicils mascara, and the lip gloss.
As a long-term customer who heads a large Tea Party group, I can not purchase a product from a company whose spokesman insults half your customers by essentially saying “Republicans are between Reptile and Repugnant in the dictionary”. I am a registered Democrat. However, I must stand with my fellow-citizens, to do not reside with the glitterati in the East or West coasts.
While stars such as Julia Roberts are free to express their opinion — uttering such contemptible inanity that insults half your potential customer base has its consequences. I hope your corporate and marketing leaders appreciate that times are changing, and most of your potential customers would have preferred another ambassador who, while they may be interested in current events, do not demean fellow citizens because of party affiliation.

Roberts is on my ever-expanding “no-watch” list of Hollywood nincompoops who think that their elitists opinions should sway their fellow citizens. They have become the new aristocracy. There is a reason that a wonderful cartoon “How to Train Your Dragon” tops the box office, dominating J. Lo’s new junk. (Note to J.Lo — insulting Sarah Palin by calling her “bitch” in Spanish is not likely to inspire a good portion of the American viewing audience to see your garbage, either).
I have to say, I love Angelina Jolie. Firstly, she is truly beautiful, with a star-presence that is rare and special. Secondly, she dominates the niche that Roberts once occupied. Thirdly, her ever-expanding brood upsets elite, anti-human, uber-leftists (who call her a “breeder”.) As if all of that isn’t already super wonderful, she adds to her gloriousness: Angelina is not a big fan of Obama..
In terms of Obama: I will have a lot more to day through the next week. For now, I will say that his odious playing of the race/gender card in his remarks about the newly passed Arizona law are oafish. The degree of violence displayed by the leftist protesters in Arizona after the passage of the sane, reasonable, and protective immigration bill has me deeply concerned. It is known the the Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition that this administration tends to push hard for amnesty between Memorial Say and July 4th. We intend to do the full Tea Party response to protest and derail amnesty.
