UPDATE: One of my many fans kindly pointed out that Filner’s constituents should RSVP to ensure they are able to chat with their representative. CLICK HERE to formally respond and reserve a spot, and please send me or Left Coast Rebel your reports! 🙂
WELCOME TO THE SHRINE, LEFT COAST REBEL FANS!
Dear Readers: I surfed a few links yesterday, and discovered that a “Coffee Party” was going to host Congressman Bob Filner for a meet&greet. Imagine my surprise, as members of the Tea Party work avidly last summer to have him at a townhall meeting!
“We called many, many times last summer, specifically requesting that Filner set-up a townhall, so that his constituents could review their concerns about the Healthcare Reform package and other issues,” said Sarah Bond — CEO of the Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition and one of my dearest compatriots!”We were ignored and rebuffed, refused at every turn. I would have really liked to talk to Filner BEFORE his healthcare vote, so I could like to see Californians at least be able to chat with him now.”
It seems people in CA-51 will get that chance, as Filner seems to be brave enough to face Coffee Party peeps! Here are the details, for those of us who may wish to take this opportunity to bring the Townhall to Filner.

A civilized meeting of the Coffee Party with Bob Filner. Join us in civil discourse as we meet with one of our local congressional representatives. The congressman will address the need for civility in Washington as well as discuss the major issues facing our nation today. Join us as we also celebrate the Coffee Party movement. Meet local celebrities, listen to inspiring music, meet your neighbor.

I would like to point out that the meeting location is not even in Filner’s district — it is in that of Congresswoman Susan Davis. Filner — displaying the unique blend of courage and intelligence that we have come to expect in a Washington D.C. polito-crat! If he gets the constituents to pay for the coffee, it will be a perfect Congressional trifecta — expecting the taxpayers to take care of all his expenses!
Personally, I will not be going. I am busy arranging a meeting with my own Congressman — Duncan Hunter. I am hoping to inspire him to show some backbone in the repeal effort, and ask him to light a fire under his GOP partners on the Hill to do the same. But, I would love to hear and report on what happens. I would also like to ask our Townhall-inspired friends to bring video-cameras with them, as this may be one of the few times we actually get Filner on record interacting with constituents.
Again, I find the Coffee Party website rich in irony, calling for “civility”. I have attended numerous Tea Party rallies this year, the only acts of aggression I have personally witnessed have been from counter-protesters attacking Tea Party participants. For example, at a recent rally in front of Congresswoman Susan Davis’ office, a black woman in a wheelchair rammed her unit into the legs of a man holding a “Kill the Bill” sign. I also saw a woman, who indicated she was over 90-years old during a diatribe, strike Bond with her cane yelling “Shame on you”. The only responses our participants had in these situations was to continue holding their signs and ignoring the aggressors.

All I can say is: Filner — what a guy!
For those Tea Party Patriots outside of southern California, I have a feeling some of the weak-kneed Democrats might try to utilize Coffee Parties in the same way Filner is doing. It might be worthwhile keeping an eye on the local CP groups to see if your people can take the townhall to these representatives, too!
