Dear Friends: Dawn Wildman, President of the Southern California Tax revolt Coalition, just called me from Washington DC. It was just announced that 1.5 Million people are at the day’s rally. Believable, especially when looking at this picture up on Instapundit.
Based on the crowd noise in the background, which made hearing Dawn difficult for me, the participants did not view 1.5 million as a “failure to meet expectations”. I would urge journalists who wish to retain their reputations not rely on the Democrats 2 million estimate as a false goalpost of success.
UPDATE: Doing a bit of math, since 2 million is double for those who attended Obama’s inauguration about 9 months ago, that means 500,000 more Americans are protesting his administration than who came to celebrate its start. No wonder he flew to Minnesota today — no reason to be distracted by the “little people”.
UPDATE III: “Herding Cats” — Lipstick Underground called in with confirmation of the 1.5 Million number, and was delighted to hear about the ABC report. She said that the permit for the Mall was slated for only a couple of thousand attendees. Apparently, 100 volunteers are trying to herd over 1 Million citizens out of the area. Good luck with that!
