Dear Readers: A brief note before I begin to opine on the events of today — I had a delightful chat with Silvio Canto and Writer/Director Orestes Matacena (whose new movie “Two de Force” is being released via new media, an innovative political thriller about an upcoming clash with China). Onto my thesis today: I assert that Vice President Joe Biden is intentionally screwing up.

Let me defend this thesis:
1) Joe Biden resents the intent to replace him, as it seems Hillary was approached to do so recently.
2) Joe Biden loves the country, which actually differentiates him substantially from Obama.
3) Joe Biden has often told the truth about the Obama Administration, cleverly masking it as a verbal faux pas. Remember this oldie but goodie:
In a stunning statement, Biden acknowledged that Obama’s lack of foreign-policy experience will provoke America’s enemies into creating an international crisis.
4) Biden knows he can do this with impunity, because Team Obama has gotten so radioactive that nobody who values a future career in politics will step into fill the role. Does anyone seriously think Colin Powell, Wesley Clark, David Patraeus, or any other public figure will want to leave a successful venture and step in front of this astonishingly massive landslide???
5) Nobody makes so many major gaffes in such a public way without it being intentional.
I am a former PUMA. I have long consoled my SLOB friends that Hillary would not join the ticket as Vice President. It seems that given Obama’s recent media performances, no one is keen to replace Joe Biden. In fact, former big-time Democrats are now supporting Romney. I do not think Romney/Ryan2012 is too sad about this, either. BONUS: Team Romney is on the offensive and looks like its going to stay that way.
In conclusion: I disagree with dear Professor Jacobson a bit — I think Joe Biden is showing an innovative amount of Presidental-level leadership in a truly novel way.

Interesting theory, but Biden isn’t that clever. Also, he was known for gaffes long before Obama hit the scene.
Not this magnitude, with this frequency. Sorry, but my theory holds.
Do you think the change in frequency might have something to do with the amount of press that a VP running for reelection gets vs the amount for a Senator from Delaware?
Here’s the thing. I don’t have a problem with your conclusion, but rather with your reasoning.
1. Biden is a patriot? He’s a liberal Democrat, and as such must be presumed innocent of any patriotism until proven guilty.
2. Biden is clever? That’s like accusing your cat of reprogramming your remote control. Maybe she did, but if so it wasn’t on purpose.
So lets try it another way.
1. Biden has been treated like the idiot step child for the last 3 years. This works on many levels.
2. Biden is a small, egoistic, vindictive little man. Can we just stipulate this?
3. Biden knows that in politics, it’s up or out. He will never be president, so his choices are retire after 5 more years of Obama’s condescension, or retire now and take the bastard out with him.
So, Biden is trying to take out Obama with the occasional unguarded admission, newsworthy gaffe, etc, and he is doing it out of spite. I think that is plausible.
Actually,Biden is biding ( see what I did there,heh) his time till his forces hiding on the dark side of the moon are ready then,BAM, They attack, and he becomes Ruler of Earth, BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
That’s a lot of credit to give this guy.
I’m from Delaware. I’ve witnessed Slow Joe in action for pretty much my entire life. There is no plan. Shoving his foot in his mouth is what Joe Biden does. He only seems more gafftastic than in the past because there are 100 Senators, but only one Veep.
Again, I am going to have to note that the quantity and type of gaffe is indicative of a novel approach to re-election.

I’ve tossed the idea around in my head for a few months now that Biden might be intentionally trying to subvert the O’s re-election. Just figured I was alone in the observation.

Biden has been a stupid moron since he began his political career. I think Biden was sent out to Blacks with the line, “yall are going to be put back in chains by them” — written by obama and team. Obama stands by Biden’s line! They are all hateful, racist politicians in the obama admin.

If Biden wasn’t try to throw the race before, his is now. Obama and his team are unfailing arrogant and condescending. Biden was and is an outsider, tacked on last minute. There is no way Obama treats him with respect. After each gaffe, they sit Biden down like a child and order him to stick to the script and not appear in public. He’s got to resent that more and more.
I’ve got my fingers crossed that Biden drops a trifecta bombshell in early November- something extremely anti-black racist, misogynistic, and gay-hating. I’d settle for anti-hispanic racist, anti-muslim and anti-American. You have a rich palette Joe, choose well.
Your theory is plausible, but I’m not quite sold. I think it’s an unintended consequence of the laxity with which Biden has been treated in the past by both his handlers and the press (or is that redundant?). No matter how outrageous his statements before there were so many campaign cameras rolling, people would just shrug and say ‘Well, that’s Joe.’ This discriminatory policy of low expectations has been a protective shroud surrounding both members of the ticket btw with the disappearance of the anti-war crowd while Obama shows us just how badass he can be bombing from a distance. The other unintended consequence is the Obama admin treatment of their palace guard, the press. Hurt feelings and the realization that despite all their best efforts, this guy could lose the election means there’s going to be resumes dusted off and a good hard look taken at how they’ve covered for this team, as opposed to covering them.
The main reason I dispute your theory though, is that Joe Biden is delusional enough to believe he can run for and win the presidency in 2016. He’s been patted on the head and given a cookie for past mistakes to the point where he really thinks he’s ‘killing’ it out there on the hustings with his boldness and his er…charm. Reward bad behavior and you get more of it. Joe’s made a political career out of proving that point.
Be careful of what you say about the next President of the United States even if it will be a short tenure. I base this theory on several nuances. 1) Obama knows no amount of money handouts will buy this election, promises of public cash we don’t have won’t cut it this time. 2) Fast & Furious type issues will force the administration into Presidential pardons to keep the full stories from being made public but he can’t pardon himself. 3) Questions on eligibility will continue in many states, his latest certificate is a proven forgery. The path I see is: pardons for Holder & company, resignation then pardon by Biden, UN post via native country. If he doesn’t spend it, Obama walks with +100 million of campaign money.
Definitely worth a think over. Not convinced mind you, could be stress at the end of the run, overload due to age, et cetera… could also be a subconscious thing. But definitely worth a think….
I’ve commented elsewhere that sleep deprivation, stress, and a bent sense of humor could explain this, but you may well have nailed it. Joe loves his country, and there are historical, even recent, precedents for highly-placed individuals to withdraw their approval of a government.

I will advance a much more sinister explanation:
Obama knows that he has done so much damage to the American economy that it will crash next year. He cannot afford to be President, since whoever is President will take the blame. He therefore has his minion Biden make deliberate gaffes to throw the election.
And in 2016? Obama will again run for President…on a platform of being made God-Emperor of America, so that he may clean up after another Republican administration’s excesses and errors.
That thought had crossed my mind, too,. But the possibility exists that he is just that stupid. Maybe we’ll enver know…

Joe Biden Probably Has Brain Damage

Joe Binden was a young, skilled politician at the time of his brain bleeds. Luckily for him, politics supports many people with badly functioning brains.

I’ve heard the brain damage theory from Always on Watch, but this is definitely a new thought. I suppose a comparison of his public behavior post-election could help to either negate or support your theory. Hopefully, however, there will be no more public behavior from him or the big O, as they will be voted out and hiding in shame.
