Dear Readers: Tammy Bruce brought up an interesting point yesterday, which I wanted to share with my friends. Actress Eva Longoria stated – “He’s been governing in, like, a state of emergency since the time he went into office”. She was referring to Obama during an interview on the Jimmy Kimmel Show.
While I am not normally inclined to worry about Hollywood Glitterati opinions, this one is concerning. “State of Emergency” is not something that normally springs to mind to pampered Beverly Hills residents. However, when tied directly to the “suspend 2012 elections” statement from North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue, it becomes a bit troubling.. It sounds as if the elites in this country are trying out some Obama-saving scripts to see how they will go over with the general public.
Tammy noted that in 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt declared a “state of emergency”, bypassed Congress, and closed the banks.Given the fact that 90% of Americans think the economy stinks, union leadership is inciting violence against citizens for the crime of demanding fiscal responsibility, violent protest movements and battles among Americans are being encouraged, and polls consistently show Obama losing support, it is imperative we all stay alert to some out-of-the-box strategies that may be attempted by this administration.
Keep in mind that Obama was very keen on FDR comparisons. I am sure Team Obama does not want not any mere Constitution getting in the way of their plans for this country!

Yes, statists of all stripes love crises. Since they give more justification for state intervention than normal times. (Although an economic crisis is reason for the government to get out of the way, not get more in the way.)
Economic crises, bad weather, wars, etc. are always welcome. FDR engineered pearl harbor by allowing US trade in war zones (esp. China). He did it for more state power and for reelection. Obama is certainly not past such tactics considering his Saul Alinsky pedigree.
What kind of crises can he engineer? If he stays the course he’ll have an economic one on his hands, but American’s probably won’t let him capitalize on it in the way he wants to. Its hard to imagine him engineering a full-scale world war either (without a bunch of other stuff happening first). He could engineer a currency collapse and seize wide powers.
We’ve been in a near-continuous state of emergency since December 7, 1941. (Before that, we were in an undeclared naval war with Germany in the Atlantic, as well.) The state thrives on emergencies of all kinds, and both wings of the State Party (denominated ‘Democrat’ and ‘Republican’) play this game. Thus, you see ‘liberals’ like Hillary and Kerry voting for a war based on known lies (Iraq and WMD), as their predecessors did in 1965 with Vietnam (Golf of Tonkin). Add to this the ‘war on poverty,’ the ‘war on drugs’ (the latter being an excuse to SWAT-ify police forces across the country with Federal money) and the other ‘emergencies’ we have and it adds up to a pretty convenient scheme for grabbing power.
Don’t believe anything that cannot be independently verified, no matter what title the teller has.
What’s going on here is the firing of the first shots in a new offensive in the Left’s War Of American Dependence. These two are merely following the Leftist Playbook:
= Start circulating a controversial idea.
= Pull back from advocating it when challenged, but start to work the concept in as often as possible wherever possible.
= Keep the idea in floating around until people start to accept the concept as normal and/or acceptable for reasonable discussion.
= Once this is achieved, start to slowly argue for milder forms of it being implemented.
= At the same time all of the above is going on, continue to foment Chaos.
= Once the idea is being seriously considered as an option by the serious people, increase the Chaos.
= White Knight time.
This is way republics fall.
And this is The Way Of The Leftist.

I saw a flier for the Occupy San Diego group in the local Badass Coffee Shop, and the Union Tribune has it as being this Friday afternoon, in the Gaslamp quarter.
If this rally comes off, there will be a lot of normal, thoughtful young people, ripe for joining the Tea Parties, in attendance. I expect some of them to be really turned off by the lack of agenda and good sense.
Is there any way to welcome them? I don’t mean by trying to crash the party. But by posting something to say “Hi” and tell them why the Tea Parties are more likely to get them the good things they want.
I didn’t think Eva L. was that retarded. Obama was in Texas today and one of the things he did in his state of emergency was read a children’s book to some school kids that was about HIMSELF… The ego is off the scale.
