I REFUDIATE your POLARIZATION!

Dear Readers: I am sorry the Shrine has been so quiet, but the Queen Mother was in town for a visit. During her stay, we had several discussions about current events. Needless to say, as an ex-hippie-feminist activist, my mom and I didn’t see eye-to-eye on all issues. However, she was entertained by my use of “blogging words”. One of those words, refudiate, has a special place in my vocabulary and heart. It is now an New Oxford American Dictionary Word-of-the-Year.

I love this word: It conjures up the concept of “negating with facts” and “deriding” in one sweet word that upsets the elites. And, while I have been on vacation, the American people have been doing a lot of refudiating.

They refudiate the new TSA screening process. This gem from W.C. Varones today –

Last week I went through one of the new Rapescan full frontal nudity airport scanners in San Diego. I should have refused, but I was kind of caught off-guard. The procedure was far more degrading than I ever could have imagined. You literally have to stand with your legs spread and your hands over your head like a criminal, while the machine takes a fully nude photo which it sends to some TSA guy sitting in the corner.

And it turns out the maker of the Rapescan machines lavished hundreds of thousands of dollars on Congress and both the Bush and Obama Administrations to get their dehumanizing perv machines purchased and installed.

And apparently, Americans are refudiating the elite’s derision of Sarah Palin — the originator of this fab new word. Tina Fey’s routine at the Kennedy Center this past week was so bad, getting weak laughter and few applause, that the PBS broadcast air-brushed out the vile vileness. I was watching a program on Wolverines on PBS with the Queen Mother, as she is a zoo docent. It aired just before this inanity, and I turned the station quickly in case the new system I use recorded me as a viewer. My mom and I also disagreed with the relative merits of Bristol Palin on Dancing with the Stars — and was disconcerted when I pointed out that this was a fan-base driven show, so what exactly was the problem with the Palin fan-base organizing in support of Bristol?

The elites tend to use the derisive term “polarizing” to belittle those who disagree with them. It seems the experiences of the past 2 years seem to be uniting Americans in ways that were unimaginable before!
