SD Chamber Of Commerce Backs Prop. D
The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce decided Thursday morning to officially endorse Proposition D.
If it passes, the half-cent sales tax would raise the city tax from 8.75 percent to 9.25 percent.
Chamber of Commerce Chairman Tom Wornham said it was not a simple vote. He would not release exactly how many people voted for or against the proposition, but said it was not unanimous. He had harsh words for the San Diego City Council if spending charges are not made now.

Now, for a key endorsement. I do not often give political endorsements, but when I do, I always choose someone with common sense. I have been following Marty Block’s insipid ads for the 78th Assembly spot. Block is running against Rick Powell. I find Block’s stance on education trite: There is an education bubble, and no serious-minded candidate is ever against quality education.
Furthermore, California and the rest of America is approaching an energy supply crisis: Since many countries get a bulk of their energy from nuclear power, and since “The China Syndrome” was fiction, I think building a nuclear power plant is a sound investment whose time has come. I heartily endorse any candidate with the “all of the above” energy approach: VOTE FOR RICK POWELL/78TH CA ASSEMBLY DISTRICT!

I support Col. Rick Powell. He is highly qualified to represent the 78th Assembly District. He served in the Army Special Forces and worked for the FBI.
We need good, honorable people like Rick Powell to change things in Sacramento.
