Dear Friends: I wanted to take a moment to send my prayers to my dear friend and fellow-SLOB, Charles Charles, who (according to a report I read in HillBuzz) is in the crowd of over 500,000 in Washington DC at Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally. He and his lovely Cleopatra are listening to Beck, Sarah Palin, and other Tea Party activists. Hot Air has a thread devoted to this event, which includes live-stream video of the main stage (click HERE).

Update 2: Cleopatra notes in FaceBook that “everbody here is wonderful”. Team HillBuzz is having a TWEET-athon, and their running tweets as they experience the rally are on the bottom-right of their excellent website. They agree with Cleopatra:

HillBuzz featured some dialog on one of the award winners, Jon Huntsman. It seems he is a billionaire who has vowed to spend all his money helping people before he dies, and who has authored a book I need to track-down and read: WINNERS NEVER CHEAT.
His book is fantastic. The most giving man on this planet. IMO. He doesnt give money to enviromental gibberish like most billionaires. It goes to cancer research.. he has a hospital that is amazing..battered women. I saw him interviewed and he was crying saying he will spend it all before he dies on helping people

UPDATE 5: The first news item I have located, from the AP: Beck says US has `wandered in darkness’ too long. It includes this aerial shot, for those interested in “counting heads”.

UPDATE 6: According to Gateway Pundit, two to three thousand attend the corresponding Al Sharpton “march”. Here is a fun new game we can play: Let’s predict the elite media headlines for today. “THOUSANDS ATTEND TWO RALLIES IN D.C. TODAY“.
Three minutes after the Update 6: I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. I JUST HEARD THE ABC RADIO NEWS — THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE NEWS ANNOUNCER SAID! Then, he went on to describe both rallies without definitive numbers.

Someone should check with geoeye and digital-globe and see if they happened to take an overhead sat picture during the middle of the event, and if they’d be willing to donate it for the publicity. We could publish it in 10′ square chunks and use amazon’s mechanical turk to coordinate having a dozen people hand count each square and get a better number (and set a standard) than any previous event.
