Dear Readers: A short post to warn my Tea Party friends that SACRAMENTO and BOTH of the state’s major party organizations don’t give a rat’s ass about our citizen activism — yet. And, since I haven’t done a classic movie reference recently, I decided to pull an apt one from the vaults today:
I urge all my fellow agitators to review my major piece on PROPOSITION 23/REPEALING CA CAP&TRADE, and to listen to the podcast of Gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman. After you do, click HERE for a list of phone numbers and contacts, to underscore that California voters will not blindly vote for someone who thinks that they can do “Cap & Trade” better, as the rules are based on fraudulent science AND the only thing that regulation will accomplish is the continued economically deadly partnership between eco-tyrannical regulators and elite business leaders. As I see it, Californians have to options in November, for Governor: Arsenic or Old Lace.
* Vote for Meg = Arsenic. I didn’t realize she was a Democrat until 2 years ago. Not to say there is anything “wrong” with that — I’m a Democrat, too! But, the newbie campaigner’s 56 consultants didn’t get the memo: The Usual Rules No Longer Apply. Basically, if we elect Meg, we get a real liberal who is potentially effective and desirous if implementing a traditional liberal agenda with her “three-point plans”. Only plus: She seems to be battling the union elites. But, I now have to wonder if that isn’t all show.
* Vote for Jerry Brown = Old Lace. If we elect Jerry, we get a openly liberal politico who may be too far along in dementia to be effective. Big drawback: adores the unions and his actions as Governor in the past supporting those unions have gotten us where we are today.
My Libertarian friends will say there is yet another way — “Third Party”. And, while that is an option, it will still lead to one of the two above candidates being Governor. God Bless California, as it seems the Democratic and Republican Party elites in this state have condemned it to hell.
Truly, the only real option WE have is to focus on the California Senate and Assembly, and get active in getting the best candidate elected — and toss out as many incumbents as we need. We have to look toward being able to effectively fight the Governor’s agenda, no matter who that Governor will be. Californians: Know the voting record of your Assembly representative and State Senator. Get active in the local election — don’t just focus on the national level (though that is important, too). California’s experience may be paralleled in Michigan. Republicans nominated a moderate – Rick Snyder, a tyro in politics with a tech industry background (HP) and pretty much a blank slate, in terms of known views on policy. The Dems gave us ‘America’s Angriest Mayor,’ Virg Bernero, who has been having a perpetual tantrum since he became a political name a decade ago. (The unions love him, BTW.) In other words, Mut, I feel your pain!
So, if you must flee Scylla…beware Charybdis!
