Dear Readers: Tapping into an iconic American movie, “The Exorcist”, for a few theme quotes (in the spirit of the Halloween season), I wanted to provide some news updates — potential events where we can do some BIG GOVERNMENT EXORCISM:

ECO-TYRANNY TAX REVOLT
I remind all my southern California agitators about our Tea Party/Tax Revolt event:
Time: 10 am – 11:30 am (MUT Note: There will be a special surprise guest introduction!!!)
Day: Saturday, Oct. 17
Location: By the Star of India, on Harbor Dr. in San Diego
HOST and INFO: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TAX REVOLT COALITION.
MUT Note: I have been wanting to give Capitalist Hero, Richard Rider, a shout-out for some time. I an delighted to note that he will be speaking at Saturday’s event. Richard has a weblog, which can be located by clicking HERE (and which is now blogrolled). Eventually, I am hoping that I can find time to devote one day weekly to San Diego specific issues; our compatriot W.C. Varones plans to as well.
Our last event, the Buy-cott is support of Whole Foods and the CEO’s stance on real healthcare reform was a success. Capitalist hero, Kimberly Dvorak has a great synopsis:
Whole Foods boycott turns into a buy-cott in California.
Beers with Demo notes that the CA money bigwigs report an over 1 billion dollar shortfall in anticipated revenues. NOW is not to late for a little state-specific agitation to save us from the political demons!

TOWNHALL PROTESTING DEMONIC UNION POSSESSION!
Richard Rider specifically encourages San Diegans to attend this event:
Time: 6 pm (MUT Note: Get there super-early to get a front row seat and to provide some air-support for Mr. Rider!!!)
Day: Wednesday, Oct. 14th
Location: Scripps Ranch Library, 10301 Scripps Lake Drive, 92131
Mut’s Money Quote: I suspect it’s going to be something of a showdown between Councilman DeMaio’s reform efforts and the public employee labor union activists. I anticipate that the labor folks hope to pack the meeting. We need to do the same.

RAISING THE DOLLAR FROM THE DEAD:
Hot Air’s Ed Morrissey had this news today about foreign banks dumping the dollar for a more “multi-national” approach. This lead me to make an inquiry of Professor Athena, who is a highly placed member of the banking industry.

Here is what she said:
The dollar’s current weakness is pronounced at this point in time versus the “global basket of currencies” due to lack of GDP growth in the U.S., coupled with multi-trillion-dollar deficit spending (Medicare alone is an unfunded $43 trillion), and exacerbated by what is called “dollar carry”. Which means that trade in U.S. products creates a positive conversion in currency for the non-dollar customer. They can literally buy more American products, because they benefit from increased purchasing power in their currency vs. ours. This continues the longer they leave the actual payment exchange “on”. Currency plays are tricky things. The trend of a weaker dollar due to the fundamentals I mention (and I would add a threatening U.S. business environment on part of the Obama administration) is what interests three areas of the spectrum: the buyers/sellers of goods and services, the currency exchange traders and speculators, and the trade in U.S. treasuries (as a form of hedge in the event the dollar goes up instead of down).
What would create a more favorable dollar value? That would be improving equity investment in the U.S.in form of dividends and inherent capital growth, much lower government spending creating less threat of massive federal deficits, and continued delevering/savings on part of the American consumer in order to rebuild the purchasing power of what is still the world’s largest consumption nation. Another add to a favorable situation would be our central bank’s response to inflation and their orderly unwinding of the liquidity crisis from last year. The promise has been “made” by Treas. Sec. Geithner. Now, the world is waiting to see proof. Congress should abandon the idea of further inflationary “stimulus money”, and also abandon the idea that they can legislate control of speculative financial bubbles through nonsense like capping executive pay and controlling how credit card fees are charged.
Money hunts the most favorable business environment in which to grow. Ours is simply not “it” right now. Unless we get serious help in form of fiscal responsibility in Washington, D.C., we can look to see our national checkbook in the same shape as that of the State of California. That is what investors are telling us right now. We simply cannot afford the expensive entitlements we have already signed into law, much less new ones being “promised”. They are talking to us in the only terms we may understand. They are taking away our purchasing power.
Based on all of the news, I state this from “The Exorcist” (as the Regan’s mother confronts a skeptic): You tell me for a fact that an exorcism wouldn’t do any good.

MUT News and Notes:
The Gay Patriot notes that conservative tax revolters and those on the left agitating for gay rights may share much in common — a Chicago style, bare-knuckles treatment from the Obama Administration. As I did prophesy HERE.
The Anchoress has a wonderful compare and contrast essay, Why don’t you “hate” Obama? , which is essential reading. In essence, how you see and describe the man says much more about you.
In another tale of horror, Gateway Pundit reports that traitorous GOP Senator Snowe (who is costing Maine and the GOP party tourist dollars, as I will not travel to the state nor donate to THAT political party after her participation in the Stimulus debacle) is…voting for the Baucus Bill. This reminds me to mention that Vampire Kits are available for about $12,000.

W.C. Varones is focusing on Thanksgiving, instead of Halloween…(he is sweeter than I am, for sure). There is a program for “INVITE A MARINE TO DINER” for the festivities; click HERE if you want more information.
Ann Althouse had this line from Rush Limbaugh, which I thought was a great way to end this post: I don’t even give people the power to offend me.
Thanks for the link!
