Dear Readers: The following is from my fellow Blogging Goddess, Lipstick Underground –
Be prepared for the Senate to take up a floor vote on the Energy Bill as soon as Monday or Tuesday!! That means there is not time to lose in taking action.
Here’s a little motivation: contained in the 300 page amendment added to HR2454 on June 26th was language that will allow the government to, “… audit every aspect of your home and life. The bill states every home owner will receive an energy audit. What is a home energy audit? It is an intrusive visit made by the bureaucrats at the Home Energy Team or a similar group. They will examine and report the way you live your life directly to RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network). Light fixtures, socket types, spas, hot tubs, windows, appliances, walls and roofs will all be under review. Energy tests will be conducted throughout your house. At the end of the visit you will receive a report and a rating. The report will focus on the changes you need to make and the rating is called a HERS rating (Home Energy Rating System). RESNET will perform the audits through authorized contractors. RESNET has adopted the Mortgage Industry National Home Energy Rating Standards. The standards set the national procedures for home energy ratings.”

Michelle Malkin also has a keen reminder in her post today. We need to get back to work to secure the independence that we celebrated this past weekend!
WELCOME Michelle Malkin readers! A deeply felt thank-you to one of my blogging inspirations and an avid supporter of the Tea Party movement! Please look around, and if inspired, head over to my Tea Party group’s site (Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition) and that of our umbrella organization (Tea Party Patriots).
Please check out my friend and financial mentor’s column on the matter: Coming Next – Apple Pie Inspections.
I’m a fan of being green and doing it voluntarily. This bill is crap and we need to fight it. However, I can’t find the text or provisions mentioned in your article, can you post the citations?
Can you imagine the idiots, or as they’d like to refer to them, “inspectors” that will be conducting these inspections????? Or is part of the “job creation” that Obama is talking about? What, exactly, will their qualifications be to determine the energy efficiency of my home? Will they all have degrees in science, physics, etc…?? I highly doubt it. Probably a 2 week training session and they’ll be good to go. And these people will be the ones determining my future energy bill?
Not only is the Cap and Trade legislation not wanted, it’s not needed. Over at http://www.idahopreppers.blogspot.com there is a post that indicates that Senator Crapo has not yet decided on this issue, so people may want to contact him as well.

Tim Johnson (SD) probably won’t vote for it.
Mary Landrieu (LA) Will vote for it – twice if she can.

Just a few things to think about… but I really don’t see them getting over the hump. You should still call them tho… it’s worth the effort. I plan to write my Senators and a few others…

Where is Sen. McCain’s name? He supports Cap & Trade. He doesn’t support the House version, but if he supports Cap & Trade as an idea, then a he could support a compromise that contains Cap & Trade.
Sen Mel Martinez/Rino/FL is for cap & trade I fear…
“I believe that the threat of climate change is real, and I am working with my colleagues in the Senate to regulate and reduce greenhouse emissions. As we consider climate change legislation, we need to ensure that the laws we pass will in fact reduce carbon emissions and lessen the threat of catastrophic climate change. Additionally, we need to consider and attempt to mitigate any negative effects the new laws would have on our economy, energy prices, and Americans living on fixed incomes.
The United States cannot solve this problem alone, and similar efforts in China and India are critical to combating this threat. However, our country can provide needed leadership and technological innovation for the international community, and, as one of the world’s largest energy consumers, it is time for the United States to accept this responsibility. The choices we make now in dealing with climate change may be some of the most significant environmental and economic decisions of our generation. I assure you that I am committed to passing legislation to counter the threat posed by global climate change, and I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind should H.R. 2454, or any related legislation, receive the attention of the full Senate.”
blah-blah…from a letter I received from his office.
I received the same e-mail from Martinez in response to my letter. Unfortunately, he’s not running for re-election, so we can’t even threaten non-support at the next election. Too bad…hope Crist doesn’t get Martinez’s job or we’ll just have another RINO to deal with. Vote for Rubio.

It just blows my mind that I hear our politicians talk about how complex this bill is and yet they are moving at what amounts to light speed by Washington standards on it.
People need to stop it. Tell your senators to throw it out into the Potomac.
This kind of tax will be monunmental and place a huge burden upon the American citizens. Not only that but you can bet companies will seek to do business in other countries and other countries will do the best to avoid the import taxes by going elsewhere.
