Dear Readers: I wanted to type a small post up to apprise everyone to exercise caution when going to the following website: FireDavidLetterman.com. It turns out the website organizer, Michael Patrick Leahy, is well known to our local band of agitators.
I especially wanted to give my friends at HillBuzz and other sites that promote real feminism and grassroots activism a heads-up as to the experiences of my grassroots Tax Revolt group with Michael Patrick Leahy. That way, all of my dear friends can promote this event and link to sites with a complete understanding of the background of this particular organizer.
Michael Patrick Leahy is a Republican activist. He was one of the initiators of the Feb. 27th Nationwide Chicago Tea Parties, which gave conservative grassroots activism a jump start. For this, we are indebted to him.
However, in a conference call that followed the February event, the President of Southern California Tax Revolt Coalition’s Dawn Wildman, became concerned that Leahy was more interested in collecting email addresses at the planned April 15th Tax Day events. Furthermore, instead of trying to make this an authentic “grassroots” movement, Leahy wanted to direct everyone’s activities in a “top-down” approach. It was for these reasons that our organization severed ties to the national group lead by Leahy.
There is more background information on Leahy and the Tea Parties, as follows (including something that spotlights Leahy’s own tax payment problems):

What you do with this information is completely up to you. I just wanted to apprise you of Leahy’s views regarding email collections before you sign his prominently placed petition on the firedavidletterman.com website.
