Professor Athena: Ineffectual Rhymes with Intellectual

May 6, 2009 · 1 Comment

Dear Readers: I am stepping out of the Shrine today so that you may hear my dear friend, savvy capitalist and knowledgeable senior executive of a large banking institution, Professor Athena:

Obama’s administration lost their head somewhere between blaming Bush and blaming swine flu. Though this administration is showing itself to be one of the more adept at seeming competent in words, mostly however due to the main stream media’s love affair with Obama and their tough press conference questions such as asking the President to describe his “most enchanting moment so far in his Presidency”, the competency in deeds is a different situation entirely.

The verdict is still out with respect to the handling of the economy by the Obama administration and with regard to the massive spending and bailout bill, insofar as even the most liberal of Americans are wondering where the growth in government will stop. In other words, it’s o.k. when you are promised free health care, and it’s another thing altogether when your taxes are going to rise at least $100/monthly to pay for what you were promised “for free” if you are most working Americans. It’s o.k. when you see a small increment of a “tax break” on your pay stub, and another thing entirely when the prices you are paying at the gas pump reflect the trade cap and carbon emission tax increase. You can almost hear the outcry of Americans, less of whom were out-of-work and who paid lower taxes during the administration of George W. Bush recalling the “good old days” of 2000-2007. Some may even manage to figure out that the demonization of “rich people” (read “employers”) might not be the best of public policy decisions if we want to encourage capital investment and profitability that can create more jobs for all Americans. And where are all those Gitmo prisoners going to go, anyway?

If we can’t even keep track of convicted child molesters wearing ankle bracelets, why should we feel better with Muslim extremists actively plotting to kill Americans incarcerated in this country around our neighborhoods? Don’t we all feel safer now with Janet Napolitano in charge and ceasing all references to “terrorism”? If you change the language, you can change the culture. It is at least my aim to keep the language as simple as possible. Liberals are as misguided as the armed nuclear missiles Kim Jong is testing, and as dangerous as Al Qaeda. It will be nothing short of a miracle if thousands of Americans are not killed during the inept reconfiguration by this administration’s crusade for a “kinder, gentler America” in the eyes of the watching world. As one who believes that a “stronger, more pragmatic and more selfish America” will benefit Americans before it will impress France, I want to know what exactly would so enrapture the leadership of a country like Yemen short of collusion for total annihilation of Israel enough to get them to stop terrorists from actively training in their country, stop pirates from ravaging shipping along their waters, and stop covert financing of the war in Afghanistan on behalf of the Taliban. But instead we invite them to the White House to tell them how much we want to establish “a rapport”.

The recession of 2008-2009 will likely be still the recession of 2010-2012. We saw how inflation at the point of no growth served incumbent Jimmy Carter, and it is quite likely to repeat itself by the 2012 elections if the current administration continues to insist on putting the cart in front of the horse by spending prior to growing new capital and investment in the economy.

In government where the order of priority is everything, this administration sees carbon credits as more important than accounting credits on a balance sheet. If style were only substance, we would have one great President. Instead what we have is Jimmy Carter without the charming Georgia accent.

MUT’s MONEY LINKS: Michelle Malkin chimes in on a related topic – Obama’s concept of transparency; The money quote: Openness in government is fine if it hurts America’s reputation, but not if it harms Obama’s. In terms of the media’s lack of interest in Obama-embarrassing news, read Ed Morrissey’s report on China’s challenges to our navy ships in the Yellow Sea. The money quote: …the Obama administration has started playing down these challenges to the US Navy. The latest incident occurred yesterday, involving two Chinese vessels who came within 30 yards of a ship conducting a sub hunt…The lack of protest probably told Beijing all they need to know about Obama.Founding Bloggers reports that the US Congress is poised to propose legislation against “cyperbullying”. The money quote: If this passes, would the Obama administration face jail time for repeatedly using electronic communications to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a people like bankers, AIG executives, and certain hedge fund operators? For more information on how to support the patriots attempting to thwart Obama’s takeover, see my American Freedom Network piece detailing the American Rebellion Movement. The money quote: Patriots are being asked to call or write in support of Thomas Lauria, the whistleblower who outed Obama’s thuggary. Mr. Tom Lauria’s website is: www.whitecase.com; his phone number is 212-819-2637.
